For CS, CentOS or Debian 2uantuM 08-29-2004, 09:48 PM Im gonna have to disagree with you Francisco, from what I have seen CS runs better on Windows. robgct 08-29-2004, 09:50 PM CS = WIN2003 hostbox 08-29-2004, 10:18 PM Originally posted by 2uantuM Im gonna have to disagree with you Francisco, from what I have seen CS runs better on Windows. Well, I used to have a CS Server on my crappy PII 233Mhz w 128Mb of ram, lol... It ran faster (ping wize) on Linux :stickout: On windows there where some strange Pings strikes... and that was on the local network Ww333 08-29-2004, 10:26 PM I have noticed that bf1942 runs a bit better on win32 than linux, running the same hardware. But, that has probably been fixed since I ran tests, which was around when the game was released. (Even the win32 dedicated server ran bad) GideonX 08-29-2004, 11:21 PM BF linux is still beta if I remember correctly. Ran rather poorly on a FreeBSD machine I had up :( Rahil 08-29-2004, 11:21 PM Unless you have a high end dedicated server (ie Dual Xeon), I would recommend Fedora or Debian over any Windows OS. hiryuu 08-30-2004, 05:11 PM CS used to run better on Linux, but STEAM was horrible the first few revisions. Although it's okay now, I understand the Windows version is still better. For Battlefield, Windows will work better -- the Linux port is a decisive runner up on their priority list. biddle 08-30-2004, 08:26 PM thanks a lot BionhostStan 08-30-2004, 09:01 PM CS working well on my Fedora Core 1 install. |
