View Full Version : Good domain name but previously owned by a Spammer

Occasionally I'll pick up an eye-catching domain name from the pending delete lists but I rarely check them out unless I actually get them. Well I picked up what I consider to be a decent domain name but when I really started checking into it I found that there are about 60 results returned in Google of SPAM generating from that domain name. Most of the results were older than 6 months.

Since I've never been in this position before I was wondering if folks think it's worth trying to 'clean up' a domain name or not? If you have ever bought and cleaned up a domain name that was listed before, how long did it take to clean it up?

If the domain has not been mentioned in spam for 6 months it should be dropped by most of the important blacklists

Personally I expect to have to sit on domain names I've picked up on the drop for a year before they come to anything. If I can develop traffic sooner than that then it's a bonus.

I wanted to develop this one, I was just concerned with the listing on the Spam lists and how long it would take (or if it was even worth it) to clear that all up...

I own a domain that used to be a spammer's mailing tool. Free traffic :D

I don't think that's the kind of traffic I would want for this domain name...;)
