Hello,
I've been looking around for a cheap webhosting. I noticed in ebay, they have plenty of cheap host that sound too good to be true. Anybody have any comments on this?
This is the search results that I got:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=hosting
Tell me what you think!

Anything that sounds too good to be true, most likely is. Read around the forums, and you'll learn that cheap hosts are often the worst. Lack of support, speed, reliability etc.

My suggestion is that if you see something that sesms too good to be true, then it probably is, and no matter where you find it (the host), you'd be better off with a plan that seems good and true. Your needs and expectations determine if a host is right for you, and the best you can do is choose something based on these points (a bit of good luck helps sometimes as well).
As I said in another post, before finding this forum, I picked from the web (can't recall exactly how I chose them now), but it didn't match or their services ranged from scam to just poor. Even if you research, read reviews from forums, etc., you may end up with a host you don't like, but at least you've tried and your chances will be better than just diving into the 'seems too good to be true' ones.

Obvisously scams when they give you like 5GB diskspace and unmetered bandwidth for $1 a year :D

Then again.. why would anyone take the trouble to scam you out of $ 1.-? :D

Have you actually looked at the number of people bidding on these at a time? It would add up quick.

I've picked up 3 customers this week (that I know for sure) are a direct result of them getting screwed by these yahoo's on Ebay. So there's SOME good coming out of it :) hehe
