Ok heres a brief run down of what happened. I installed a forum on my host at valuablehost.com (ikonboard) to be more specific. I then proceeded to make a site for the forum. When doing so I wanted to advertise banners on my site to hopefully make a little bit of profit from the few hits I was getting (on average 100-200 hits a day). So I installed the "Adserver" cgi script from groundbreak.com. After doing so I added just a test banner to see where abouts I was gonna place the banners on my site and to see if the script worked. The site hadn't even gone public yet. It was still just my forums that were left for the public. No one but me was visiting my site that was under construction.
Anyways a couple days later I come home to find that my hosting account has been suspended. I go to check my email and valuablehost tells me I was abusing their server. Here is what they said exactly
"We are having to suspend your domain cashdude.com due to resource utilization problem. Your program adserver.cgi is causing our server to lock up. We need to make other arrangements for this program. Please contact me at your earliest convenience."
My reply was simply the story I just explained to you. They are now deciding not to find a solution to the problem but to simply ignore me. Its been 4 days since my last email about this issue and still no reply on this matter. Before it was email them, reply within that day or next.
In conclusion I believe that valuablehost will take any little problem that arises, or mistake you make and simply wipe you off their list as customers. They got your money, they got you by your balls. Not very proffessional I must say...

It could of been because of ikonboard. Many hosts are banning that script these days because it is so poorly written and even the mysql one uses too much resources.
Well it would be nice of them to offer a substitute but its not really their obligation to do so. It was a script you installed and it caused a problem. and you should actively seek out alternatives for it to get your site back up and running the way you want it.
I beleive they acted with best intentions to protect the other users sharing that server and if it was someone elses script causing problems to your site you would want the same. I think the best place to find an alternative is hotscripts.com , that place has the most abundant collection of scripts Ive seen.
100-200 hits a day is nothing and should not cause a problem but since it did I would look for an alternative, install it and watch "top" or "uptime" in ssh. If you notice the load on the server going up when you have the new script running you could disbale it before valuablehost catches it and then move to another script or you might just need to be moved to a more powerful server.

You are right, things happened exactly the way you stated. Thank you for being honest. I did what I had to do to keep the server up and performing, you were not the only site I had turned off.
I was not aware that it had been four days since you had heard back from us. I was under the impression that we were waiting to hear back from you. The moment I received notice from you today that you had not heard from us, I turned your site back on with remedy.
Beyond e-mail, we have two immediate means to contact us that are plastered all over our web site. First is our toll-free support number, yes we offer toll-free support. Next, we have live chat for about 18 hours a day which is quite popular with our customers.
I am sorry that you feel you were wronged. It is not an easy decision any host has to make, but we have to keep our servres up and running.

I think Rik (vh) really had a very professional attitude here.
But I think any host should specify the scritps that may cause problems, so that people know in advance. There are not many popular scripts that cause the problems, (not sure), it may be a good idea.
About every 30 days I get another email asking me to provide my account information. Its does get frustrating looking it up again and again.
Now..at least today I see my account is gone/down and theres no http://www.valuablehost.com/
Heres the newest email

I'm not trying to bash or put negatives on valuablehost BUT where is the place or support forum? (down at least today)

Maybe they don't have reoccurring billing? Could be one reason you have to do it every 30 days?
I paid for a year 9/2001.The place was changing servers and place dysfunctional for couple months at least. When things get back working its discovered valuablehost was bought out and rates changed. Old accounts were promised 'grandfathering'.
So I have no idea what is going on until the site comes back or support board.---sometimes they never do.....

Sometimes they never do? Do what? Support?
Although I like to use forum, rik suggests to submit a support ticket or just email support@vh
I always get quick response on the forum and by email.
I also received the billing letter, but I just ignored it, because I paid for a whole year.
