View Full Version : Too good to be true?

I am on a mad search for a new hosting company. We are currently with AIT and I have had it with them. We have been with them since the beginning and there was a day when they had excellent service and pricing. Over the last year we have had a ton of support issues and they have just increased the charge for each host from $2 a month, to $3.99.

I am looking at mchost and splash host. I have to wonder if they are too good to be true. We currently host 18 domains and only use about 250 MB. It is hard to believe that we can get hosting with either of these for only 30-35 a month, with no hidden costs. With the rate increase at AIT we will be paying them about $170 a month.

It is going to take a considerable amount of time to move my sites and don't want to make a snap decision because they ticked me off, but I have to do something.

Looking for any input anyone could give.

Both McHost and Splash Host have good reputations and you can see many comments about them if you search the forum. And they among others prove constantly that you can provide resellers affordable plans from which they can make money. They also prove you don't have to sacrifice service to do so.

And there is no additional costs with either of them.

Be sure with the small space you need you will benefit from your move.

The way I look at it, I can't afford to stay with AIT. It's not just a financial decision. I am just a small-time operator, but my clients get upset about downtime just the same as the big fish.

Since these don't have huge monthly rates and setup costs, I could afford to pay both for a short time to get the sites moved gradually over a couple months.

Thanks for the input. :D

Sent you an email also...

I'm gonna have to second the AIT impressions...

I'm just starting my own business and am not financially able to pay the fees that they just added -- it's not economical to offer plans to your customers for 6 and 7 dollars (if they have very small sites) and have to meet the 4 dollar fee first just to break even...

The company is great, customer services is great, BUT,
the company I worked for (also uses AIT) was ALWAYS going down. I haven't had the same problems luckily, but simply can't deal with the price hike.

Please let me know where you end up.

McHost and Splash Host are both great companies.

If you do a simple search on these forums for either company, you will find everything you need to know about them. You will mostly find good things said about both companies.

I have looked into Splash Host and they have only been in business for roughly 6 months.
Be sure and do your homework before commiting.

I've been in the hosting Business for nearly 5 years own Cobalt raq Red Raq's and custom built servers.

About 2 years ago I sold all my clients and hardware to a national ISP. (Because I was starting a family)

12 Months Later ..

I had 30 clients ask me for more features in a web host than what cobalt raq's offered.

After hosting these clients with 12 different host I finally stopped at MCHOST

These guy's are Fast friendly and Reliable.

*Note I rarely recommend any host but MCHOST are a leaders in Reseller Hosting.
