Hey guys/gyals...

I was on a host that had terrible support for my CGI scripts but I never had problems when I was streaming my ASF or WMA files...

I have now changed to a another host and... right away... my FTP speeds are much slower... especially the initial connect/loign sequence...and ...now my users are dropping the connections when trying to listen to my AUDIO files

How was i to know is there anyway that I can check this out before hand... eg) B4 i was uploading atleast 20kb/sec on cable and on this server... it can U/L @ 8kb/sec... it's annoying...

Any ideas/tips would be greatful... Next time... i want to get the IP adress first... and test it from there... or someting...

And finally... can anyone mention a host that their with that allows good http streaming... thanx

I would make sure you're streaming the ASF files from a Windows Media Server and not a web server. I realize that technically, it can be done, but a WM server is designed for this. You should also look for an officialWindows Media Partner (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/service_provider/service/default.asp) .

Ask you host if they have a WM server for you to place your files on.

As far as speed tests before hand, perhaps you can connect to the ISP's anonymous FTP for tests before hand. At the very least, they should be able to give you a test login if you ask them.
