View Full Version : Alternatives to Cpanel / WHM

We have been using Cpanel / WHM for almost two years now- and we really are not happy. Looking back- over 50% of our support tickers were due to Cpanel / WHM issues.

We have just been forced to upgrade - which has caused absolute disaster- CPanel wiped clean our old exim configurations, all the templates were changed back to Cpanel and Horde the webmail now does not function properly.

This only skims the surface of what we have had to deal with over the last 2 years.

Can anyone shed light on whether the other Hosting software will be better? (such as Plesk and Ensim) We don't need lots of fancy gagdets- we just need reliability.

I've been hearing good things about Plesk 7 but I haven't used it personally. It has less fluff and is reliable. Perhaps try to demo it or setup a staging box and try it out, probably the best way to see if it provides what you're looking for.

You might try DirectAdmin. I'm seriously considering it on future servers. The price is also quite a bit cheaper than that of cPanel.

plesk, ensim, h-sphere + helm get my recommendation... though personally I prefer cpanel above all of those

Judging by that comment I recommend DirectAdmin :)

DirectAdmin is excellent
H-sphere is only suitable for companies who can setup a cluster
Cpanel is over priced
