dmaven 08-27-2004, 10:46 AM I think .info is running special to drive up interest. I saw tucows offer a similiar deal to their resellers.
Gary111 08-29-2004, 10:32 PM hmm......it could be a nice anniversary present....any reasons behind the scene it might be, the price cut is real. I see the good thing with OnlineNIC info promotion is that the rules are very simple and the qualifications are easy. Low level members will be able to benefit a lot....
taheri6 08-30-2004, 12:45 AM yeah, they need the customer base. Once those users try and get support though, its all over . . . .

I do not know if it is that 100%. Affilias is running a series of promotions with different registrars. I think this is just one of them. I also see onlinenic gets some very special deals with .cn registry
taheri6 08-30-2004, 12:49 AM Are they the only registry located in china, or are there a lot over there? (sorry if thats ignorant ahead of time :))
dmaven 08-30-2004, 12:52 AM Here is the list of china based registrars
Beijing Innovative Linkage Technology Ltd. dba dns.com.cn China, People's Republic of
**********, Inc. China, People's Republic of
Eastern Communications Company Limited China, People's Republic of
HiChina Web Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited China, People's Republic of
Inter China Network Software (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (aka 3721) China, People's Republic of
********.com, Inc. China, People's Republic of
taheri6 08-30-2004, 12:53 AM hmm, so only four? I would imagine with all them people they would have a lot!
dmaven 08-30-2004, 01:01 AM I think USA host the most registrars compared to other countries
Gary111 08-30-2004, 01:15 AM for sure that USA host the most registrars, also the most hosting service providers. HostCheap.us.com, I am not sure why you say that OnlineNIC is a company in China, if you check out at ICANN or internic, or the registered trade mark, they are a San Francisco, CA based company. I did notice that they have a support team in China but is that why you say that they are a Chinese company?
And anyway I don't think that the place the company is in really counts that much....
dmaven 08-30-2004, 05:09 PM They maintain a small office in San Francisco. They are purportedly based in China.
Apparently, another .info discount on the way:
In the "coming soon" section of their latest emailing, registerfly.com says, "New .info special as low as 2.99."
I don't know what that means, exactly -- "as low as" implies a following "and as high as...."
dmaven 08-30-2004, 09:36 PM I saw the same thing. I am assuming they did a deal with affilias too. I would like to know when.
Brandoo 08-30-2004, 09:47 PM $3.99-OnlineNIC, so cool!
It seems that only OnlineNIC launch the .info promotion now. Maybe it is a great opportunity to register some good .info domains with this so-attractive price.Hmmm, will try......
Bashar 08-31-2004, 06:04 AM onlinenic has so many TLDs at low prices like .TV for $30

Yes, got this last week:
Between 1 September 2004 and 31 December 2004, Tucows is lowering its normal wholesale transaction charge to resellers to one dollar (US) for the first registration year of new .info domain names!
Only NEW registrations conducted between 00:00 UTC on 1 September 2004 and 23:59 UTC on 31 December 2004 will be eligible for this promotional pricing. Registrants may register a total of 25 new domain registrations under this special promotional pricing.
Registrations made by individual registrants exceeding the 25 domain limit will also be discounted. The price for new registrations made in excess of the 25 domain limit will be lowered to four dollars for the duration of the promotion.
dmaven 08-31-2004, 10:18 AM I saw the same thing last week. lets see how many resellers offer it
KramericaInd 08-31-2004, 04:07 PM I don't know if .info's are that great anywya, I never been to any good site with a .info extension. As a matter of fact I never been to a .info site before lol.
dmaven 08-31-2004, 04:11 PM In germany they are popular
still something to consider about:
1,It seems that only onlinenic don't put a limited on the number of total .info registration within promotion period, tucows and registryfly limited the number:25.
2,glad at the first year .info registration, but at the same time,we should still think about the renewal price from the second year.choose a lower price wholesale registrar. :)
dmaven 08-31-2004, 09:59 PM most big registries such as affilias, neulevel can/do special promotions with registrars providing they meet specific volume limits. Perhaps onlinenic has comitted to volumes and hence is able to offer the low pricing beyond the 25 limit stated by other registrars.

I think more or less is because of previous 2-year registration limited and technology manegement.but now I think affilias made visible improvement on these aspects.anyway, there are more big space for us to choose a relactive good domain from the new gtld. :)
4solutions 08-31-2004, 10:56 PM My eNom pricing dropped to $4.10 on new .info names... anybody else have a similar drop? (Normally I have $7.10 pricing for this sub account).
4solutions,which level reseller are you in enom?$4.10,sounds not bad.but enom need a much high amount dollar to prepay to be its reseller. :(
Cyberdeeder 09-01-2004, 06:59 AM $3.95 for $6.95 accounts on eNom :)
gx10vn 09-01-2004, 08:23 AM From Bashar:onlinenic has so many TLDs at low prices like .TV for $30

Mine also.
I don't think so.I am being treated kindly by onlinenic. But as a small reseller of enom,I seldom get response.I hate treatment is measured by the money he spends.

What do you think should be otherwise then?
Brandoo 09-01-2004, 09:53 PM Hi, gx10vn, Why you said it is too hard to register a account there? what's the problem you encountered ?
dmaven 09-01-2004, 11:51 PM from enom:
Dear ETP,
Beginning today, every new .INFO domain name you register is discounted by $3.00. The promotion runs until the end of the year.
The discount applies to all new adds of .INFO domains. It applies only to the first year of any multi-year registration and does not apply to transfers or renewals.
The discount has been applied to all eNom reseller, sub-reseller, sub-retail and retail accounts.

Why don't you checkout www.NameZoom.net which provides a free eNom reseller account. This site is owned by WHT member acts837 who is very active here. I think he would be a good ETP to be under.
Good Luck!
dmaven 09-02-2004, 08:10 AM Now if enom is paying 0.00 for the names and they are selling for 3.95 they are making quite a killing.
taheri6 09-02-2004, 08:15 AM haha yeah affilias is just giving em away for free now cause no one wants em ;)
xperience 09-03-2004, 08:08 AM simpledomainnames.co.uk are doing .info domains for 99p!

Sums up the whole promotion pretty well I think!
I'm not sure it will help their cause at all - .info is just useless!
