Also you may want to check out www.c1communications.com which is Canadian. They are in Halifax and have offices else where too. aleavens 01-08-2002, 11:59 PM Creid: Ottawa is fine if you could forward me the information please. PERL SCRIPTOR: I contacted Primus and they have offices in Montreal thier Co-Lo dentre is in Toronto. c1communication is giving me timeout errors. thank you though I remember seeing a co-lo here that just rented you space in cages. You accessed you servers as needed all they did was make sure that the power and ethernet cable to you cage was working. but I can not find them again. stefant 01-09-2002, 12:49 AM If you find any in the Montreal area, please send me a pm :) Rehan 01-09-2002, 03:33 AM Andy, is it http://www.istop.com/co-location.html that you came across before? Magma (http://www.magma.ca/) in Ottawa also has colo services, but their fees are probably pretty high. method5 01-09-2002, 10:18 AM What are some from toronto? creid 01-09-2002, 10:25 AM I know a CRAP(Can we say that?) load from Toronto! Thank you everyone for your help. method5 01-09-2002, 10:38 PM http://www.niagara.com/services/co-location.html Monthly limit of 1 GB of data transfer. creid 01-09-2002, 10:40 PM LOL! You will see more weirder ones then that!:D Chris Belgarion 01-10-2002, 12:16 PM I'm personally in Montreal, and was also looking for colocation facilities in that area. I searched for a few days, but came to the conclusion that bandwidth in Canada is just wayyy more expensive than in the US. Basically, in the US, i've seen anywhere from 1$/GB to 5$/GB (US $) while in Canada its more like 8$/GB to 12$GB (can $) which translates into 5$/GB to 8$/GB (US $). So unless you really need your server to be in Montreal or close-by (which I agree is a good plus for colo), you may want to consider that as well. Tallon 01-10-2002, 12:39 PM Belgarion, I ran into the same thing as well. I had emailed a few companies asking about colo and the one that emailed me back quoted me $150/m and $15/GB they said they'd also throw in 1 free GB of bandwidth a month. webfors 01-10-2002, 11:41 PM We spent several months looking for decent alternatives in the Ottawa/Montreal area. I live in Montreal and will be moving to Ottawa next year. Magma has a 2 year old datacenter in Ottawa, but as mentioned previously, their prices are too high. Unless you absolutely require physical access to your servers, you're better off to go with a more reputable US colo company and get better pricing. I checked with Citinet in Montreal sometime last year and they wanted to charge me over $1000 / month for a colo'd box with a 256Kbps line. Ahh... hmm... no thanks :D funkee 01-11-2002, 02:44 AM Peer1 Networks (peer1.net), in vancouver, has pretty reasonable prices and an awsome network. Competes well with US providers also. aleavens 01-12-2002, 03:23 PM I have heard from Bell Canada Here are the prices for a rented server from us installed in our secure farm in Toronto wich is guarded 24/24/7 and in a dust free atmosphere. If you want to bring your own server we could rent you a space for 450.00$ a month for a space of 17 h 25 w 28 d plus an installation fee of 500.$ once. Or we could rent you a server, we have different models at different prices, but to give you a ball park figure we have the compaq dl389 model at 1950.00$/month plus a 995.00$ installation fee with 5Go of transfer per month. If you need more transfert, we have the possibility to sell you transfer at 26.00$ per month for up to 500 Go of transfer. So between 201-500 Go of transfer, you would pay 26.00$ per Go of transfer. Nice prices  lotuslnd 01-12-2002, 06:11 PM yeah, peer1 seem really good ... unfortunately they're only in vancouver and toronto (as of feb.) though. they're professional, and their prices are very competitive. although, i don't know anyone who has used their services. 311 01-12-2002, 07:02 PM I don't see pricing anywhere on the site... |
