I have tried Matt Wrights scripts and CGI Factory but neither of them give me what I need / want.

I have zero perl or CGI programming experience so I am hoping for recommendations from other users.

I need the form script to be able to cope with a large number of fields including picture fields.

The WWW board needs to be searchable and reasonably professional looking i.e. not just a mass of text in the middle of the screen. The one WHT uses would be ideal BUT it is huge overkill for what I want to do.

I would prefer not to have to pay for them but I will if I must : )

As for forums, there are quite a few really good free ones out there. Ikonboard (http://www.ikonboard.com) is coming along very nicely if your bent on using cgi. Personally I like the php boards out there much more, check out phpBB2 (http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpbb2) for the latest release client, which is nearing completion, or phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com) for the older stable release of that project. OpenBB (http://www.openbb.net) is also a very nice board.
