Hi,

Im looking to get a host but am new to this whole thing. I was wondering about a few things.

First what is domain parking and domain ponters?

Second if i get an account can i have more than one domain name point to it? Can for instance i host abc.com and xyz.com on the same host account? abc.com could point to one part of the internal directory and xyz.com could point to a different directory. Like for instance could i have xyz.com point to abc.com/xyz? Im guessing that its not possible without maybe another ip address or something.

And can i have an ftp account and have secure access to it? Like if i had sensitive files on it can the company look at whats inside the ftp and cancel my service for it? Because i would like to host an ftp on the site but i would like to make sure that it is private.

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance for any help.

Firstly domain parking is like a holding page which would say somthing like "coming soon"

A domain pointer would point a domain to another. Normaly you can choose the full path of the domain you want it pointing to so you could point www.abc.com to www.xyz.com/abc

Secure ftp.
It sounds like you are saying you dont want your host to know what you are putting on their servers.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I dont think you will be able to find this.
Host have a right to know what is on their servers. Obviously they would not read personnel details but just check you have not got anything illeagal. You are also protected by the data protection act. (In the UK any way)

They can only cancel your service if you are breaking their terms of service. If this is what you intend on doing you should not sign up with them.
