Network Solutions emails me again - which is odd because the domain only has an admin contact and nothing else so why 2 emails? They also had different session/id strings so it wasn't a dupe of the first email

....I'm amazed the transfer went through, I guess I was lucky? Must be because the domain transfer email was sent before the invoice one (I never received an invoice in December either, so I don't know why that thing is dated Dec. 12th)

Strange but true.

Wow.. you are lucky.. I was not so lucky a few months ago with one of my personal domains. I was stuck paying them again for another year of hell....

I received these same "bills" from Network Solutions for domains I had transfered from them in October - also dated the 12th of December, and also for a two year registration.

It took me a minute to catch my breath, since I'm managing my own domains now at myOstrich Internet :).

It seems your domain would have expired on 23-JAN-2002 so you just transfered it before that time. Nothing unusual. If you think the renewal notices are odd, then don't worry. You'll get noties about your domain expiring for months to come and probably even next year. I have domains that I've transfered and they keep sending me renewal notices *still*. Just freaks you out for a second until you realize the domain isn't with NetSol anymore (whew).

I received an invoice, but I'd already transfered the domain to 000domains :)

I can't remember when exactly I transfered this domain from NetSol, but it was long ago enough that I can't remember it :D The renewal notices are:

URGENT, your domain will expire... blah blah blah...

-and everytime I have to go into the domains to make sure it isn't with them. I have one stuck with them *still*...

I think it's just one of the many ways NetSol wants to f00l people into paying renewals for domains NetSol no longer manage... :p

That's a scam! (which they can say it's just a billing error... :))

I'd agree that it is a way to fool you, except that they provide the link where you are supposed to go and ask you to log in to renew, but since the domain isn't in their system, it won't let you get in. So they may be banking on you contacting them to ask about the problem, then do something, but otherwise, it may be that they don't have their automated messages synched with what is actually happening.

The reason I mentioned it was strange was because it had been mentioned in many places (and some threads on here) that there was a 'lock' policy on domains that were within 30 days of expiration...

I guess that's not true anymore?
