I'm just curious...

If I ordered a business DSL line, could I actually run a viable site from home?? I'm not familiar with DSL, would it just be too slow?? Or not have enough bandwidth for the traffic load of a website?

I know that I could get a lot better hardware than I can from a dedicated server plan.

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend it if the site you want to host is very important.

Then build one and collocate it.. :)

Thanks

I haven't looked into colocation, can you recommend some places to look at??

Can I actually send them my hardware??

Here is what I'm looking at. My site is growing pretty fast. I'm currently with RackShack. So I'm paying $100/month. I know that I can buy a better server than a Raq, but can I find a colocation or dsl connection that will still put me around the $100-$150/month figure??

why not just upgrade to a 1 GIGhz Pentium or Duron at rackshack? They are $100/month (with a $500 set up fee though) and they are pretty powerful (from what I hear).

Check it out, also, you may want to look at www.hostsearch.com for colocation needs.

If I upgrade, I'd like to move to a Win2K server and be able to connect to it through PC Anywhere or Terminal Services.

Terminal services is commonly used with Win2K advance servers. So easy to admin them :)

And if I upgrade, then that's what I want!

So which way can I get there??

pgowder,
I also considered doing the same, but after researching around it will not be viable, plus it wont be reliable enough either.......
