What does everyone use to backup there servers? Currently I am just using Windows 2000/2003 Backup Utility that comes with the servers and back all the files up on another server and then been trying to download the large file via FTP. I know there has to be a better way and thats why I am posting?

We use "Plesk Backup Utilities" "cPanel Backup Utilities" and 4PSA Total backup (still in testing for us).

We then backup various important files seperately once a week just in case. ;)

Well my big problem is off site backup. I have a server on a T1 line that I am not using. I was thinking I could use this server to connect to the network at ThePlanet (which my T1 line is in Dallas also) and somehow once a week do a offsite backup onto this server. I do not have any backup tapes or drives since I am 2 hours away from Dallas so would like a easy way to manage the transfer of the files and everything remotely. What would be the best thing for me to do? Map a network drive to my offsite servers HD? What software should I use for backing up?

Are you using a Control Panel?

No control panel, I do everything the long way cause I have tried every control panel and hate the way everything does resellers so I have started to write my own just hard to find time to keep working on it.

Then there may not be any "best" method without using an Backup Software.

There are windows backup utilities that will allow you to use FTP, etc.. One of these might be your best option

Try ROBOCOPY that comes with Microsoft's Resource Kit. It allows you to setup incremental backup keeping the same data on both the servers. Free and easy to setup.

I have no problem purchasing software as long as it will actually work and do everything I need.
