View Full Version : Slow connection to the planet?
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 05:39 PM Anyone seeing problems with The Planet servers today? Connections are slow as moss growing for me in OKC.
:( I'm glad I use them just for my cheaper accounts, otherwise my number would by ringing off the hook.

xyzulu 08-23-2004, 05:46 PM Well you must live next door!
That is an excellent speed... I can't even get to my ISP's homepage in that time...
Are you sure it is not the server itself?
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 05:52 PM I'm in OKC, OK. Opening their website www.theplanet.com takes an incredible amount of time. My free/cheap hosting clients sites are all draggin through the mud.
I think it's time to find a new reseller account to put my free stuff on.
WebMate 08-23-2004, 05:53 PM Your trace doesn't show any slow hops as far as I can see. Have you checked your average server load?
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 05:57 PM Just 0.17 (I'm assuming that's alright, as we are primarily a windows host, and I'm not real familiar with the ins and outs of server load on Linux)
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 05:59 PM Whoa, spiling to .34 I'm assuming that's still okay? mem usage of 49%
GideonX 08-23-2004, 06:03 PM You're trace looks perfectly fine to me...is the site(s) in question the ones in your sig?
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 06:07 PM yes sir, those are a couple of the one's crawling.
GideonX 08-23-2004, 06:10 PM Both the sites load fine on my end here in NY.
SROHost 08-23-2004, 06:19 PM They (the planet's site and yours) also load nearly instantly from both office DSL and Level3 backbones in Los Angeles.
Wullie 08-23-2004, 06:21 PM Both load pretty fast for me and I'm in the UK. ;)
WebMate 08-23-2004, 06:22 PM Give'm a call, and see what they say. It migh be just you subnet.
ibda12u 08-23-2004, 08:03 PM Thanks guys, My connection at home is pulling the sites without a problem. I will see how things are tommorow, and call the planet if same problems are going tommorow.

wheimeng 08-24-2004, 03:51 AM I don't see any problem with the traceroutes, could it be apache settings?
Maybe one of your log files exceeded 2GB limit? Had such problem before...
ibda12u 08-24-2004, 10:41 AM Okay back on my network at work, same problems slow connecting to anysite there. I called the planet, and they are having no problems at all. My ISP is looking into it to see if it's an issue on their end.
I know it's not the planet though cuz I can see if fine from home, and other spots.
