Does anyone know of a good, free site that keeps track of the latest trends in terms of what browsers and OS's are being used to surf the web?

I used to have a link to one, but it seems that I've lost it.

http://www.thecounter.com/stats/ gives a pretty broad overview.

Thanks for those links,

just commenting on thecounter OS stats:

- Amiga is the number twelve most popular operating system :) ( maybe I am not telling the whole truth, but I am telling the truth - check the numbers myself - http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2002/January/os.php ) . Oh I remember my teenage years and my Amiga 500.

Really didn't know IE was used THAT much. NS is almost dead nowadays.

Here are the results from my web site for December 2001
for the top 10 browsers. This list shows: rank, browser version,
number of visitors, and percentage of total.

1. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x, 41753, 63.63%

2. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x, 12788, 19.49%

3. Netscape 4.x, 5607, 8.54%

4. Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x, 3252, 4.96%

5. Other Netscape Compatible, 1249, 1.90%

6. Netscape 6.x, 702, 1.07%

7. Microsoft Internet Explorer, 124, 0.19%

8. Netscape 5.x, 65, 0.10%

9. Netscape 3.x, 46, 0.07%

10. Opera, 19, 0.03%

Total 65,623 unique monthly visitors.

Internet Explorer more than 87%.
Netscape less than 10%.

Most of the complaints I get about pages not loading,
computers locking up, etc. come from visitors using
Netscape.

I hope this information helps you.

Those sites seem to confirm what I've got on my own stats. It's nice to see what the whole world is doing.

I don't know about how the rest of you guys think, but for all the hoopla and complaints about how MS is dominating the industry (not in this thread, but in the DOJ and in general), I would MUCH rather that MSIE dominate. Two years ago, I spent 70% of my page-debugging time ironing out the kinks for the many versions of Netscape. Now it's down to about half. Now I'm finding it harder and harder to justify coming up with solutions to fix what Netscape won't display correctly when their market share is diminishing.
