My site is starting to grow and I'm noticing that the load averages are rising. They seem to stay around .55 during the day. With peak times going up to about 1.25.
When should I be concerned?
I'm on a Raq4i with 256mb. Would another 256mb of ram help??
My biggest app is vBulletin. I also am running AdCycle as a daemon. I serve about 15k ad impression per day.
Thanks for the advice.

i run a very busy website on 1 RAQ 4i with 512mb RAM. i hope to keep things under 1.5 during peak, which, i'm doing pretty well with my tweaks. i haven't gotten to anything overwhelming yet, such as kernel tweaks or re-compiling. but, yeah. there are mysql, php and apache tweaks you can take a look at. and of course, the more RAM the better for a RAQ (and every other box as well!). 512 would be a definate improvement.
i've seen people discuss 2 - 4 as acceptable, others who say over 3 isn't acceptable. definately search around here and the dedicated server forum...

2-4 seems fine. I'd get concerned at 5-7-ish, though it depends on what you want/expect/accept. When it starts smokin' you need to call 911...

I've had a load average of 60 plus .. pretty hot but the raq stayed up!
Anything over 4 means that your server is under some load.

It is now staying around 1.5-2.0 from about noon to 4 pm. The rest of the time is is less than 1.0.
Thanks
