Go Daddy is an ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) accredited domain registrar.
ebird 01-06-2002, 03:20 PM So, you help them advertise it here?
Why you post it here and spam this board?
Angel78 01-06-2002, 03:50 PM Because i wanted to show others what are thy doing, or you will now go there and buy a domain name from them = SPAM sucks
thewitt 01-06-2002, 04:13 PM There are a lot of companies that are now doing this.
If you have a contract with VeriSign to use their domain list, you cannot use it for SPAM.
Anyone doing so will not be allowed to download future data files from VeriSign.
Can you prove that GoDaddy has used the list they received from VeriSign for SPAM? I can't. But I sure suspect they did, becuase I have received email from them as well - with information they could only have mined from whois, on an obscure domain that isn't even linked anywhere. Where do you find out about this domain? In the files from VeriSign...
If you really want to make them stop, you'll have to report them to VeriSign and pray.

BIGTOWER 01-06-2002, 10:29 PM Oh Come On.
A lot of them are sending out unsoliscited emails now.
GODADDY IS A VERY REPUTABLE COMPANY.
Everytime someone knicks their finger, they come here
and post these piddly things.
This is getting tiresome.

But I do agree that it's kind of pointless to post a report of every domain name registration related spam here -- if for no other reason than that there are too many of them to keep up with.

The reality is that it's the big guys who get away with it, and the little guys who get stomped...

atually i love the service, but still they have no right to spam me :)
Matrix 01-08-2002, 02:51 AM Personally, I think too many people complain about spam all the time. I get spam every single day and I just delete it. What difference does it make to complain about it? It still keeps coming.
Asher S 01-08-2002, 02:58 AM Actually no, spam pisses me off, its increasing day by day. on my private emails i get around 2mb of spam / day :bawling:
Asher S 01-08-2002, 03:01 AM Oh yeah and I'm on crappy dialup :( just imagine what its like for me to download 2mb of spam :bawling:
Matrix 01-08-2002, 03:08 AM ^Kyo,
I use aol for my e-mail and I get tons of it everyday. Plus I usually turn other AOL people in that send me spam crap yet I don't think AOL does anything about it, because I still get it.
Asher S 01-08-2002, 03:18 AM Right but the fact that i have to clear out 100's of mails pisses me off  my isp should really do something
