View Full Version : Want a RaQ-4i?
Martin64 01-06-2002, 09:05 AM My RaQ-4i is for sale. Read its specs here (http://www.rackshack.net/specsraq.asp). It's the same as the Best Value one, except that mine only has one 20Gb HD.
Total setup fee for this rig at Rackshack is $348 and monthly cost is $128, but if you buy it from me you'll get it for the amount listed at the last post by me in this thread. Also, you'll only pay $99 per month. If you get it directly from Rackshack you'll pay $128 per month. Also, RaQ are currently not available from Rackshack so if you want one you know who to talk to. :D
Contact me either through a private message or through e-mail and we'll work out a deal quite a bit below $348.
You'll pay a setup fee of $X to me, and you will then continue to pay $99 per month for as long as you wish to keep the server.
Note: This "offer" expires on January 14.
Thanks.
rackshack.net is very cheap, why you will sell your Raq4i?
service at Rackshack.net are Ok?
any body know where another Company who have coss $99/month for Raq4i?
Giza
Martin64 01-06-2002, 11:09 AM The reason is that I'm getting a more powerful server. I'll most likely get a 1 Ghz AMD Duron with 1 GB RAM and 40 GB HD, also from Rackshack.
I've already got a few people interested, so if you want it you need to hurry. :)
Martin64 01-08-2002, 06:37 PM Alright, I thought I'd update you a little.
The Rackshack setup fee for this system is $299 for the actual RaQ, and $49 for the extra 256 MB Slot of RAM. This extra slow of RAM normally costs $19 extra per month, but we only pay $99 for the whole package. Don't ask me why. :)
As I said, the monthly cost is only $99 (+ taxes = $105), although it's really worth $118.
The best offer I've got so far is $100. If you'd get it from Rackshack, it would be $348. Also, I promise you that you can't get 512 MB RAM for $99 anymore.
I'll update this post if I get a better offer, otherwise I'll sell it for the price mentioned above. Thank you,
-Martin
Martin64 01-09-2002, 09:40 AM The latest offer is $125.

Or it could be they just forgot to bill you for the extra ram and when they look at your account when they do an ownership change the new owner will likely have to start paying the extra ram charge.... MAYBE :)
Martin64 01-09-2002, 10:47 AM Hehe, no it can't. They can't charge me for RAM I've never ordered. :). Besides, I've had 512 MB RAM for months now, and yet no extra fee to the bill. :D
Martin64 01-09-2002, 10:55 AM Also, I've had a Rackshack technician physically check my RaQ because we found it odd that it had 512 MB RAM, not 256 MB, and he just confirmed it. End of story. :)
madsere 01-09-2002, 11:38 AM Hm,.. will RS really let you do an ownership change?
In that case I have a RAQ4 with 512MB and 2x20GB HD you can take over for $100 bucks. .. but as I said, I really doubt RS will allow an ownership change...
Martin64 01-09-2002, 11:58 AM madsere: Of course I've checked this up before selling the RaQ, and yes, they do allow it. Yours is $99 per month as well? ;)
madsere 01-09-2002, 12:15 PM No, mine is $128/month -- but includes 2 x 20GB HD.
Martin64 01-09-2002, 12:20 PM So you're going to sell yours too?
madsere 01-09-2002, 12:33 PM Yes, same situation as you.
Martin64 01-10-2002, 04:36 PM Today I got an offer that I couldn't refuse, so at least my RaQ isn't available for sale anymore. Thanks.
Just buy madsere's RaQ. :)
wouldn't the new owner also have to pay rackshack a $29 fee for a system retore? I know that I would want it set to it's original clean settings.
GAMPort 01-11-2002, 04:44 AM So you got an offer that was only 1 $ less then what Rackshack is asking for? Oh well, that was good then ;)
G'day madsere,
You have PM
madsere 01-11-2002, 05:45 PM I just realized I had a lot of replies on my last post. I never expected there was a market for a 2nd hand RackShack (RS) RAQ, but it seems RS have stopped offering RAQs in spite of demand, thus my inbox is full of PM's wanting to buy my RAQ.
I *am* intested in "selling" my RAQ as I am replacing it with a generic Linux box, but (1) I have to have confirmed from RS that they will let me do this - I will post a note about it here as and when I have that confirmation - and (2) find a way of transferring the money. Since I am not American I cannot use paypal or any of the other simple ways of online payments. Any suggestions welcome. Transferring to RS for payment of my replacement system could be an option.
Sorry for the confusion.
porcupine 01-11-2002, 06:05 PM Wow, madsere, honestly I wouldn't have expected there to be huge demand for raq's, maybe i'll start offering them (i previously avoided them because they're about 3x the price of a regular box), maybe i can get a deal from cobal ^_^.
madsere 01-13-2002, 05:54 AM I just had a reply from RS (MarioR) informing me that "[RackShack] do not currently allow the transfer of servers. "
If anybody can explain me how, and from whom, they managed to get RS to accept a server transfer I'd be very grateful!
Rene
Chicken 01-13-2002, 04:42 PM My guess would be...
1) with approval
2) possibly a newer rule following some rather devious activity by a customer recently.
