View Full Version : Alabanza did it to us again!

This is the 2nd time in our 6 months on Alabanza that we needed a back up from Alabanza and they were unable to come up with the back up. :kaioken:

Two months in to our hosting with Alabanza they told us we would need to add a 9 gig hard drive if we wanted our backups to run with out problems. They installed a 9 gig hard drive. The cost to us: $150 PER MONTH! :kaioken:

Four months later we had a customer to delete their image dir. They emailed us for help! I get with Alabanza and they said :D No Problem! They would need to get this off tape! That was on 1/1/02, now here is it 1/6/02 and they email back telling us that they don't have a back up for that customer!

We are getting off Alabanza ASAP! :kaioken: We have opened up our 2nd server with BurstNet and are loving it!

If any one is still on Alabanza and needs a server We will turn this one over if you pay us out of the year we pre paid!

We are out, no matter what! Even if we have a empty server for three months! I am getting my customers off Alabanza.

I say RUN, don't walk away from :uzi: Alabanza! :puke:

Haze,

I guess I could lie about Alabanza. That is just not the right thing to do!

The post was not to sale our server! It was to let people know what is goin gon at Alabanza!

If some one is an Alabanza shop and they are needing to add a server we have a deal from them. They would not need to pay the $1000 set up fee and we would pay for our accounts we have on the server.

We were lucky and only had one server with them! If we had 6 or 8 servers we may not of been able to pull out of Alabanza.

We are not looking to rip people off. If some on needs the server and we can come to a deal that would beed nice. If not we still are going off Alabanza and we want the BBS to know why are are going!

Regards,
Dale

If the 9GB drive is SCSI, it's a bit on the high end, but not absurdly high.

In two of my workstations I have a single 36 gig lvd2 scsi. Yes, a 9 gig scsi (Which it probally isnt) for 150 a month on top of their current box/site is ABSURD

I'm 99.99% sure that it's SCSI. I think all of their systems run SCSI HD's, at least that's what my ex-server had.

Thank God my 'Alabanza Years' are over. :D

You all are wrong. This is a IDE 9 gig drive.

They said that I needed it to make our back ups work! They said that they back up fo the drive and then back that up to tape. I guess they forgot about the tape.... :flamethr: and the back up.

If they were backing up our customers domains every day like we paid for :dunce: then why can't they come up with my customers files? You would thing that out of 6 months of back ups they could find ONE BACK UP!:eek2:

You can fool me 1 maybe 2 times but not 3! ;)

:puke:Alabanza :smash: is history for our company!

This is where I step to the plate and...agree with Haze: I wouldn't take your server. Not paying $150/mo for a 9GB IDE HD

I had no idea Alabanza was so bad...yuk

Geez...
I could have told people months ago about that
stuff going on at Alabanza! They over charge a
crazy amount and people still pay!

Does anyone know if they provide telephone
support anymore? They had it but canned it
about 6 months ago... with promises of starting
it up again.

We have been on BurstNet for 4 months. They have their problems like any host but I feel they TRY! The price is right and the product is good also. Their connection is not as good as Alabanza but for the price, I can live with that! You got to do more to keep the server going but again for the price!

You got to add the IPs as you need them. They give them out little bit at a time unlike Alabanza where you get then with out doing anythng.

I emailed my sales rep. and asked Alabanza to meet BurstNet's prices. They said they would not even think about it. I hope people will think about starting up with them.

Alabanza was all we knew. We were a reseller for a year and our customers liked the control panel so we got our own server with them. What a shock we had! The over costs was more than the server its self!

$150 for a 9gig IDE hard drive PER MONTH

$10 per gig overcharge

$1 per control panel

Their will come a time when Alabanza will be called to task for charging like they do. That will be a very good day in my book!

But as far as I know there always has been and still is telephone support.

www.MChost.com has been the one I recommend for locating your server, I think www.venturesonline.com will be moved by the end of the month.

Hostrocket.com is I believe relocating also brendan could mention more about that.

If I locate a server within a datacenter and pay a company like mchost, or venture,, hostrocket etc, I want to talk to someone and get a real response. Too much investment to do otherwise

Do MCHost offer colocation? I think they are in the NAC datacenter, which is a great place to put servers if you go with them.

Also, I thought HR was in their own DC? Are they moving again?

MCHost I believe uses a couple datacenter for obvious reasons, nac and another

Ask Kiwi specifically, the guy is top par with his responses, and very professional I am sure he will help ya.

Ive just never seen mchost ever mess up on these boards LOL

Hi,

Just to clarify it for ya, while we are at our own place right now, the majority of our customers are still located at the VDI datacenter however. We are spending alot of time testing things to make sure its all as perfect as possible.
