I'm considering parcom.net. I'm on Brinkster.com - but I haven't been able to update my database for weeks.

I need the following:

MS Access Support
ASP page support
Not a lot of space or traffic
Less than $10 a month
Must be reliable.

Can you help?

parcom.net offers "un-metered" bandwidth.....

Jim - that doesn't help me a lot - is that a good thing or a bad thing - and why?

oh man, here we go...

basically, the hosting company does not charge you for bandwidth as long as you dont intrupt their network or server resources. Now, this may be good for smaller sites that dont expect to use alot of server resources. The problems that we have with these hosts is that the customers on these servers could have their sites harmed (as in downtime) because of a user that overused the server resources or network resources.

You may want to check out some sites that would give you a better understanding. Unlimited Bandwidth and Unrestricted Bandwidth are basically the same concept, but just different wording.

Im not saying that this host is bad because of this, I personally have never hosted with them, but I have interacted with the CEO of the company (not a very nice encounter).

If you need further clarification you can PM me, Email me, or post.

I understand perfectly the risk of signing up with a company that has fine print for 'unlimited' bandwith. I've seen the horor stories for horrific bills.

However that doesn't seem to be the case with un-metered - they aren't even measuring your bandwidth - right?

My sight gets around 2000 hits a month - not much. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to bring anyones server down - unless I get 'hacked' somehow.

How can you put a company on your bad list if you don't have experience with them? I'm not positive - but from what I read I will never be charged more than the set monthly fee - do you know something different?

Wrong, you can be charged if you start to use Exessive Resources. They will have a clause in their TOS that will say that you can be charged if you go over their resource limit.

Also, we do not list companies on our website, we are not listing just any company out there. We do research on each company that is SUBMITTED to our site. Now, we dont only go by one SUBMISSION. We only post sites that have been brought to our attention by numerous users.

We also test each and every email that we select for our reviews and make sure that the person submitting the reviews actually was a client of the hosting company.

We arent our here to destory hosts, just inform others about the troubles OR success that they have had with a company offering unlimited, unmetered, or unrestricted.

Yeah, but every host has resource limits. In my opinion unmetered is fine, especially if they honor it. If you are billed for bandwidth, then it is not unmetered. Then go to Jims site and write a review. However, if they truly do not meter, then don't use that as a deciding factor.

As far as them as a host, they don't seem to have a lot of people complaining.

Even if you have a great experience with parcom, please go to the site and allow me to post the experience on the site. I have really been trying to post more postive experiences. Im trying to get away from a one-sided site and try to give the whole truth.

Unmetered bandwidth is not the same thing is unlimited bandwidth. Unmetered bandwidth is pretty much all the bandwidth your assigned connection can handle. Parcom.net's network is made up of OC48, OC12, OC3 and a few international OC192's. I don't think you should have any problems with them.

It's just rather unusual for someone to dig up a thread to mention a host's connections.
