Hi,
I'm planning to get a dedicated server from either ThePlanet or RackSpace. What do you guys recommend. Any good feedback on the Planet regarding their enterprise series?
Thanks,
Linda

What are your requirements what are you looking for in their enterprise series? Do you need an sla? do you need backups? what is it you are looking for. Rackspace certainly has TP beat in the way of support but there are pros and cons to both.

P4 3.0 should be fine. All I need is a manager server. Yes, I do need a sla and was told that theplanet is within 2 hours. That should be fine with me. They also offer 40 gb of backups and that should be enough. Rackspace cost $400 and theplanet cost $200 monthly. The most important thing to me is the backups.

Their SLA is 2 hours for what? ticket response times?

If you need fully managed go rackspace. TP is not up to par.

I agree with thelinuxguy, rackspace is the best. If money is an issue, go with The Planet they are good but not has good :)

Ditto, rackspace is truly 24/7 proactive managed provider, TP is no longer in the league, I would compare TP with other mid ranged providers.

I use both. If you want to guarantee your sleep at night then go with Rackspace, they have great support. The downside is that they are damned expensive. What we have done is any servers with The Planet are mirrored to another (unnamed) provider who is only used in case of an outage and then we use DNS to failover to them.

If what your needing isn't to critical, and your a little tight on money I would go with the planet.
I just signed up last night for their dual 2.8 xeon server and it was up this morning, I had one little problem with a password that I screwed up and they had it fixed within 5 minutes.
