What AntiVirus program (if any) do you use on your server? I'm running Windows 2000 Adv Server, curious what you recommend for an AV program.

Dexter 01-05-2002, 08:04 PM well i don't have any experience but you might want to look at symantec. they have enterprise level products that would give you full coverage. windows protection/general background file scanning/MS Exchange protection/etc aleavens 01-05-2002, 08:38 PM check out http://www.sophos.com/ it is platform indedendant, and is not a bad one. Anatole 01-06-2002, 09:42 PM Kaspersky sux, cause it just "over-advertised" here, in Russia. It is very expensive. Check DrWeb for Server (select appropriate version for Windows,FreeBSD,Linux,Solaris). It scans mail (runs as daemon) takes very littlle CPU time and works great. We use it with all our new mail servers. By the way, it is not too expensive: $500 per mail server (no additional fees) with 1-year updates included. More info at their site: http://www.sald.com/ My favourite combination is DrWeb + Qmail under FreeBSD :) 10000 accounts on single PC twrs 01-07-2002, 09:38 AM For personal use, I always love Symantec's Norton Anti Virus as it's very reliable and comprehensive. You may want to check their web site at http://www.symantec.com Awebhosting 01-07-2002, 01:45 PM Check out F-Prot at http://www.frisk.is/f-prot/ The only thing is it costs $2.00 per server per year, with a minimum license of 20 copies. Best AV I have found that keeps updating there signatures. Every time there is a new virus, they put an update out, not like Norton AntiVirus. David pjs 01-09-2002, 02:53 AM I don't believe the f-prot license allows their software to be used in a mail server type setup. They have a different product coming out for that. That drweb @ $500 per mail server is the cheapest I've seen so far, I'll take a look. Does it have command-line scan functions for linux? |
