I dont know if the mods will allow this post or not as its kind of talking about my company. Remove this if you want.
I get a lot of people ask me if I offer win2000 reseller plans or if i support asp. Im just wondering what do people look for in windows reseller plans? Is ms sql needed or will ms access do?
What about control panel? I was thinking Hosting Director from sphera?
Just let me know what you would like in a win2000 reseller plan.
Thanks very much

In terms of database support MS Access is just about better than nothing ;) SQL Server would be ideal but the cost is huge considering the equally as good Linux alternatives. Perhaps a freeware database solution like Interbase is an option also (I've used Interbase for web applications that have needed to manipulate nearly 5 million records without trouble).
I don't personally think any of the Unix/Linux ASP alternatives are really any where near decent especially for a reseller environment.
Feel free to PM me about anything else :)

What I need an do not have at this moment (on my "former" Win2000 reseller account):
- disk and traffic control via HC;
- reliability and acceptable speed;
What I am still looking for:
- 4 domains & 3-4 G traffic plus nameservers and HC for less than 20 USD/month.
- affordable upgrade option if necessary.

Windows is very expensive. However, people that request Windows do because they need it, and it's usually for a web app of something. But what people generally want is:
Control Panel
ASP (no brainer)
SQL but Access is a must at the minimum
reliability
speed
Windows brings something else that you should consider, downtime for patches. you need to do at least one reboot per patch. Although MS is working on fixing this by providing patches that don't require a reboot.

I do not recommend starting a windows hosting business. (while I will be happy if you can provide such a service).
Managing a windows server is very hard. You must be ready to install patches in case of a ne crack, hack, virus. You will encounter numerous problems. It is not comparable to unix. It is not so reliable and stable.
I do remote administration for 3 windows servers for a hosting company, however I will not start a business on their windows servers in anyway (they use verio) as I do not want to risk my reputation between my customers.
