Seriously, if you had the kind of huge budget you're proposing why would you do either one approach or the other? You should do both, along with magazine spots, maybe radio, direct mail... everything to do to make your company a household word. Or just do everything ***** does.

Sorry, every other form of advertisement has been declared illegal. And the government shoots you if you use more than one of the two remaining forms. ;)

If one had a billion dollars to advertise thats enough to go out and buy the mediums delivering advertising. You could buy a lot of medium size webhosts with a lot of customers and become a near exclusive sponsor for the techtv channel, internet.com and the other major webmaster forums on the net.

I would also purchase and try and buy-out all of the showcase spots on all of the major web hosting directories. Like hostsearch.com and internet.com and all of those. If you have that much money, you can purchase like 20 spots in each of the showcases (which I think is the limit) and then you would be the only showcased host in that entire place. Hostsearch receives like 7 million hits per month, you would get alot of exposure.

Or, you could do like x10 cammeras do and just buy out all of the advertising on like Commission Junction (www.cj.com) and pay millions on those pop-under ads. That would give you a whole crap load of page views for your site, as well as customers.

Yes that is a good idea! Buy out every single ad spot on every hosting directory! Bid $100/click at those pay per click search sites. Run a per-view ad campaign, and tell 'em you want to spend $1,000,000 every day. Force out the competition. Mwahahahaaaaaaaaa! :dgrin:
