Opinions on Rackspace and Aplus.net for a dedicated Linux Server. The price for Aplus.net is very tempting but I don't know of anyone using them. Thank you!

Your choice should be easy nickn 08-18-2004, 02:13 PM The price won't be worth it after a month, trust me. :) Very rarely do you hear complaints about Rackspace though, iNET trusts them, and they seem to do quite well. But avoid aplus like the plague, just like Ryan said. The two don't even compare. dynamicnet 08-18-2004, 02:36 PM Greeings: While very data center provider has its own set of issues, the Rackspace.com network stability is hard to compare. Thank you. mno 08-18-2004, 04:29 PM Definitely RackSpace. I would never switch to A-Plus. mwright 08-18-2004, 04:43 PM I would definitely go with Rackspace XtremeBandwidth 08-19-2004, 12:12 AM yes I would choose rackspace over a-plus. Do a search and you will find some info of what they were doing to have their web site get a better ranking on search engines. HereforyouHosting 08-19-2004, 12:37 AM A-Plus wanted to charge me $185 USD with 1 ip address and 250gb bandwidth for a celeron 2.4 with 512mb ddr... Rackspace offered to match it for quite a considerable amount less. JHServers 08-19-2004, 01:10 AM I have 2 words for this entire comparison: NO COMPARISON. RackSpace takes craps on aplus.net. Also lets not forget what aplus.net did to their customers. They hid backlinks to aplus.net on every customer's web page so that they'd get a higher PR and increase ranking to #1 on google. That's almost as bad to me, as how people feel over the whole Ev1 and SCO issue. Considering they now charge $375 for 150GB even though its on a AMD 2600+ thats still interesting....How did you achive such a low price from rackspace? HereforyouHosting 08-19-2004, 01:17 AM Perhaps i should of mentioned that it was 2 years ago. You just like the way i type! twrs 08-19-2004, 01:30 AM The winner is absolutely RackSpace between the two. If you're looking for a managed server provider with similar quality like Rackspace but with cheaper price, try out ServInt. I've heard some good things about LiquidWeb as well. XtremeBandwidth 08-19-2004, 04:03 PM Originally posted by HereforyouHosting Perhaps i should of mentioned that it was 2 years ago. Two years ago? two years ago it should have been triple the price. Dedicated server pricing (and all pricing in the hosting industry) are going down. mlingo 08-19-2004, 04:25 PM Aminus not Aplus. I was with them for a short while like two weeks I could not stand it. It took for ever to get set up, I was unhappy with the experience alltogether. Hope that helps tonkagunner 08-20-2004, 12:01 AM I would also recommend avoiding aplus.net. I bought a domain through them once and they spam called my whois number on domain trying to get me to switch to them or something. This is very unprofessional and I would advise not doing business with such companies. |
