Hello,

Does the other host also have cpanel? if yes then there is a feature within Cpanel by which you can transfer the account without any hassels. In about two click your account can be transferred to the new server :)

Hope this helps,

Rajen

What type of a site is it? The safest way, in my opinion, is to just have a backup on your hard drive. I have the latest files of all my sites on a spare hard drive. That way if something goes wrong, or a change needs to be made, I can easily upload at any time.

Use a FTP program to download all of the files.

BTW, why don't you have the files already? Did you make the site?

?? dont get what you mean.

i use wsftp. when i download those files as backup, .htaccess is not being downloaded. and using ftp to download is quite slow for me.

Who originally built your site? If it was you then why do you not already have the files?

How is downloading individial files which will equal the total amount of space of a zip take any longer?

oh...because i have installed many mods.
downloading from a zip is definitely faster??since it is compressed.

anyway, if i downloaded the zip from cpanel, am i able to extract it on my comp without the error?

Usually no. The zip files aren't compressed versions of your site per se. It's more of a cpanel backup, which can only be read through cpanel. Think of it as trying to view and edit an Excell spreadsheet in Photoshop.

Do you have root access ? If you have you can transfer through web host manager
