I know this is not quite dedicated but for the price and what we could get, it easily matches what others are offering so I felt it best to post my inquiry here.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Win 2000 server package and found: http://www.MaximumASP.com . The packages are VPS and they do not hide the fact they co-locate with Xodiax, any thoughts on them would be helpful too.

It may be a long shot but does anyone have any knowledge of them?

Here is a quick lowdown on what they offer for $199/month

Access to ALL of Windows 2000's web features
50 customers per server, not 500-1000+
2000MB (2GB) of disk space
40GB of transfer (8x the bandwidth of most web hosts!)
Over EIGHTY commercial components included
E-commerce support included
100MB SQL Server 2000 database included
Same-day custom DLL registration
Proactive network and custom site monitoring
Unlimited domains and e-mail
Triple-redundant backups
High-end gigahertz Dell servers
A 100% Cisco gigabit network
A FREE 100MB account on our dedicated Microsoft.NET Server!
100% staffed and supported by Microsoft Certified Professionals

They have extremly good reputation in the ASP/Windows world of hosting. I would recommend them based on what I have heard from friends etc, even though I havn't used them myself.

For that kind of price, what you are getting doesn't seem that much. And 50 people per server, with 40Gb of transfer each is a lot for a server - that would be 2000Gb of transfer per month, on the server. And bearing in mind that its a scripting-heavy server - ie. its designed for ASP scripting & backend, thats a pretty high load per server.

For a slightly more per month, you could get a dedicated deal, and have the server to yourself - there are some highly acclaimed providers such as RackMy.com who frequent this board, so it may be worth posting in the Requests Forum to see what they could offer you..

Just my suggestion, and good luck,

Regards
Matt

Check out this case study though: http://www.maximumasp.com/default.aspx?c=products&p=case%20study

If that's true, then I don't think you have to worry.

It's still a high load, especially if they only use single 1Ghz machines, when transferring that amount of data.

They are 'overselling' like everybody else. If all your customers used all their allowed bandwidth what would happen then?

Also they state "there will never be more than 50 customers on a server"- so they would probably not put 50 customers using all their BW on the same box.

So, again, I they are truly recommendable
