Hi all
This should perhaps be in the requests forum but I would like customer recommendations rather than just offers but both are welcome via PM.
I help a computer illiterate (don't tell him I said that!) friend publish a web site. He is in New Zealand using FrontPage 98. We are looking for a new host.
It must have:
FrontPage extensions.
About 50 Mb space.
Ability to create Frontpage subwebs with their own publishing and / or access passwords. I think Unix / Linux hosts do this by default and you set permissions inside FrontPage which does things with .htaccess files behind the scenes. His current host runs Windows so this doesn't work. Its the main reason for wanting to move.
Probably no more than $10 US per month.
Ability to handle a .co.nz domain. The requirements are exactly the same as a .com except that the New Zealand registry insists on correctly configured dns servers before they will move a domain. This simply means that we can't have a host who insists on a domain being in the root servers pointing to them before they will create the account. I have come across this once and it leads to a chicken and egg situation. I will deal with the NZ registry to move the domain.
Email forwarding etc.
www.venturesonline.com look promising.
Any others that fit the bill?
Thanks
Ross
