Hi all,

Would you please help me check whether the doamin hiforums.com is working?

This is hosted by cyberwing, and it worked today. Now, the ftp, the https://hiforums.com:8443, and ping are working, but the http://hiforums.com gave me dns error.

I just modified the index page and it worked on my machine. But after I upload several simple html pages, http is not working.

Now I put a blank index page there. Please help me check whether http is working.

Thanks.

ebird

Thanks for the answers. But why this is happening?

ftp working, plesk through the domain working, pingable, but http not working?

I know I should ask cyberwings, but generally why this happens?

Thanks.

If it is using plesk, then I do not see a reason why it shouldn't be working. Most likely apache web server is down and apache needs a simple reboot..

Hi!
I guess everything is down now... :(
Even ftp doesn't work from you.
Also when trying http try the absolute url rather than the domain name only. i.e. if the home page is index.html try http://hiforums.com/index.html

Have a great day :)

I noticed you had a period of downtime with one of our servers this morning - no one else reported it, but obviously from these posts there might have been an issue. We are checking our logs to see if there might have been an issue, but this was not recorded in our monitoring service either. Please, in the future, let us know about these intermittent periods so we can more directly assist you, rather than finding out about this through a web hosting discussion forum. We're looking into this matter further now.

Thanks!

After a little more research, we do think we've found the problem. It appears to be a fix we can make on all of our PLESK boxes and it was a known issue in the PLESK forums :) We're on this issue right now. It appears the httpd daemon on PLESK has a habit of just intermittently stopping - a few lines of code added to a config file will help monitor the services and restart them if necessary.

Thanks again for all the replies.

Cyberwings, I posted the question here, because I want to know why this happened in general, not a cyberwings specific question.

I tried to ask the question on your forum, but I need to wait for the permission to post even after I activate my account. Not sure why, since it just depayed the time that I can begin to post there, and added work load for you, and there's no benefit at all. But let's discuss this at your forum.

Spykie, Thanks. This is a experimental site, which begins with original smilies from the forum scripts. I will update it later and add other smilies collections.

MarcD, when I asked people to check the site, I changed the index page to a blank one, since I don't want the people who help me to "suffer" from the popups. since it's working again, I put the old index page back. I didn't advertise it anywhere, so it will only annoy me. ;)

Mods, please close this thread.

Thanks again for all the helps.
