I know there are thousands of articles on the Internet about reselling web hosting an other stuff, but is there...

A BOOK ON STARTING A WEB HOSTING COMPANY???

And does that book have like information on...

1. Starting a web hosting company.
2. How to market to customers...Marketing Plan.
3. Start-Up Budget, Operating Budget... Financial Management Plan (almost exact expenses)
4. Running the web hosting company.

That would be nice!!! I haven't found anything about one though... :(

Have you looked into http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0072132795/ ?

I'm not sure how good it is, but you can get a decent idea what it is about from this blurb:This is a hands-on introductory resource for effectively serving as a corporate Web host. Shows how to implement the essential technology--running servers, operating software, network resources, and database-management applications--needed to offer customers high-quality service. If anyone has read this book or any others, I would like to hear what you thought about it.

I haven't read that book ("Web Hosting: A complete strategy") cover to cover, but I have skimmed through it and read several sections, and my opinion is that it is worthless to someone serious about starting a Web hosting business. The delivery is at the most basic level, and you could rip off the cover and rename it "An Absolute Beginners Guide to Websites" and probably not know the difference.

Example: You'd think a section called "Marketing" in a book called "Web Hosting: A complete stragety" would have extensive coverage of hosting directories. There is one paragraph on Web hosting directories--one paragraph. There are, however, three pages telling you to buy "opt-in" e-mail lists, and a half a page touting the CueCat as a modern marketing tool. Most of the marketing section is a beginners guide to website design (not the actual title, but might as well be), where it takes you though such advanced topics such as HTML, tables, and links. And if that's not enough, you get a section recommending you add WAP content to your site (a think a lot of people shopping for Web hosting are doing it on their cell phones, don't you?).

The rest of the book is just as ridiculously inadequate and sometimes totally off topic. The book is copyright 2001, but most of the charts and data references are from late 1999/early 2000 (and we all know the Internet has changed a little since then).

Save your money and read WHT instead.

That was the book I found. I didn't find any reviews on it and the cover wasn't that incredible. Well thanks for replying!!! :)

I have both

Web Hosting
by CARL BURNHAM

Strategies for Web Hosting and Managed Services
by Dough Kaye

Both are worthless books. I got more information about Hosting
in this forum than both of the books combined.

I don't want anybody to waste money on those books.
I am trying to sell those books in the "Sell used Items"
section at amazon.

There's HostingTech Magazine and Web Hosting Magazine. You can get both for free if you're in the industry.

Intelligent Hosting and Bluetin: thank you for your comments. Somehow I had a feeling those books would be a waste of money. Perhaps you could add your comments to Amazon so others don't make the same mistake?

Tim, www.whmag.com and www.hostingtech.com are two hosting magazines that have been mentioned here in the past. I am currently subscribed to Hosting Tech, and I signed up for Web Hosting Magazine but never received an issue. Hosting Tech has a lot of basic industry news and commentary but not a whole lot of tutorials or intros, if that is what you are looking for. You can read most of their content on their site too.

I agree with the others that WHT is going to be the best place you'll find this kind of information anywhere.

I qualify for a "free" subscription to Hosting Tech but have to pay $190 postage... hardly free..

HI!
I guess you'll learn more on WHT about the industry and how to start than anywhere else.
Then I have two suggestions on good books that you must read -
1) Business at the speed of thought - Bill Gates.. A complete materpiece.. :)
2) Customers.com - Really teachs what a customer wants and the little things you can do to be big..

Have a great day :)
