View Full Version : Is SM $299 setup fee a permanent or temporary offer ?
Raydon 08-15-2004, 12:02 PM Tempted to get another Dual Xeon at $149 + $299 setup , but will not need this server until about 1 - 2 months later.
Anyone know the $299 setup is a temporary offer or have they make it a permanent offering ?
Thx !
lyrics4all 08-15-2004, 12:06 PM a permenant one i'm sure
ezbnc 08-15-2004, 12:14 PM Way I see it is never think it is permanent because it might not be there when you need it.

This is what i'm worried about. :(
MadCow 08-15-2004, 12:56 PM HTey had it before, took it away and brought it back. I think they will add it into their specials rotation....
I wouldnt count on it always being there. However, last time they ran it they said you could pay extra to reduce your existing server price, dont know if they still allow that or not.

This dosen't answer your question, but incase you hadn't noticed for an extra $50/month you can get a higher spec'd total control server from theplanet with $0 setup. (I think the WHT promo code for a free upgrade to 2x120GB hdd's in the TC servers is still on aswell)
But back to your question, I don't think the $299 setup is permenant, only the < $149 are permenant.
noreason296 08-15-2004, 03:13 PM Its a temp offer, I remember when I planned to get that deal about 1-2 months later and it wasn't there anymore =/
But then they offered a no setup fee deal so it works out.
phinsup 08-15-2004, 03:49 PM You know I've watched their sales wuite a bit, the deals seem to change, but there always pretty close to the same, I mean you could have gotten free cpanel and $149 setup for around the same price a couple weeks ago.
wheimeng 08-15-2004, 04:02 PM I believe that offer would be on for quite some time... if they don't, dedicatednow.com does ;)
Defcon|Rich 08-15-2004, 06:49 PM Maybe you should ask SM this question instead of speculating?
Just a thought..
eddy2099 08-15-2004, 07:48 PM It should be temporary since it is not even listed in the main pricing listing on the front page but a special red tab. It was here for a while then disappeared then came back on some systems.
DreamHost-MikeS 08-15-2004, 10:27 PM I think that SM has a habit of changing their offers weekly.
That is not to say that this offer will never show up again, but next week, most likely, there will be a different offer.
Raydon 08-15-2004, 10:53 PM Yes, i emailed their sales, and they told me it is a temporary offer. :(
Hmmm .... now i'm in a dilemma ...........

Buy it now and lock yourself in at the current special. Find another use for it until it is really needed.
aleck 08-16-2004, 03:45 AM several month. 3-8 or so. until they fill their lines to some extent. IMHO
