How long does it normally take for a DNS settings to take place?

I changed my DNS almost 48 hours ago.

Usually, I know it takes 24-72 hours. But when I do whois I can see the changes I made.

I can access my domain from my home, but not from my work.

Can anyone else access www.cellphoneforum.com

Thanks.

it takes 48 hours for domain registrar to update global registry but it may take long time before your isp update his DNS catch, some isp update it weekly so if you will try browsing your web site even after 5 days you may not be able to see it.

by the way i can see your web site. ;)

Thanks.

I don't understand why some isp's don't update on a regular basis, maybe every 24-48 hours would be suitable I think .

But I appreciate your help.

A registry updates its records every 48 hours (I think). The GTLD name servers have TTL of 48 hours. So, in normal conditions, it can take up to 4 days for DNS caches around the world to catch up. Especially if you had used that DNS servers to query your domain before.

I thought that the registrars submited their updated records thousands of times a day, and the root servers were updated twice a day. Although they used to only refresh once a day, it switched to twice a day a while ago. Of course I'm too lazy to research it right now.

This is the placeholder for domain cellphoneforum.com. If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file.

This page has been automatically generated by Plesk Server Administrator.

So all you need is to upload now.
