View Full Version : Any ServerHost/PlusWeb/colorackspace people in here plz
WildWayz 01-04-2002, 05:56 AM Can you access your servers?
Info removed now - appears that anyone with a server at the Atlanta datacenter (and hosting with Plusweb/ServerHost/Colorackspace) will not have a working server due to problems.
Appears dv2 do not have any involvement other than terminating Plusweb/ServerHost services for the time being.

c0bra 01-04-2002, 06:46 AM No, our server has been down for some three hours so far. Also received a let's just say interesting email earlier from serverhost, putting two and two together I say your theory could very well be right. My concern right now though is a lengthy blackout.
WildWayz 01-04-2002, 06:59 AM Yeah,
I agree - it seems a bit too dodgy too me. Its a shame - not had any problems/downtime for ages and Jeffrey is on the mend too.
Just waiting for another company I know who have servers with dv2 to come online to see if his are up.
If his are, then urm... very dodgy.

energy 01-04-2002, 08:29 AM The last time I talked to Jeff was a little after 3 AM EST, at that time he was planning to go to the data center to fix whatever is wrong himself. It's past 7 AM and still nothing.
It seems to be a problem with the connection between DV2 and the Plusweb equipment.

Are you joking?
The last network downtime was on December 27th!

It may be worse....much worse... :(

There was?
I never got any outage reports for that time.
Weird :/
Hope it is sorted soon and Jeffrey didn't throttle dv2 :D

WildWayz 01-04-2002, 09:57 AM Hmmmmmmmm
I don't know what to think.
I just got an email from dv2.net about all of this. According to them Plusweb had their services terminated hence why we are all down. Reason for this was failure to pay and once paid, cheque bounces.
God this is such a f**ked up situation.

energy 01-04-2002, 10:08 AM WildWayz, please check your ICQ.
WildWayz 01-04-2002, 10:15 AM are u R0ntec?
James
my server with serverhost is down as well :(
c0bra 01-04-2002, 11:46 AM Me thinks our box will be down for a very long time then. Time to start moving a few sites elsewhere, make a bunch of DNS changes and trying to reach Jeff to cancel our account. This would have to happen just a few days after our server admin left for 2 months in Australia. Damnit!
yea I am already working on DNS changes.. :bawling:
Shows you the confidence I have in a fast fix...
WildWayz 01-04-2002, 12:22 PM Just wish we heard from Jeffrey about all this :/
Its getting to the point where I wanna just hang up my gloves and quit - and to think I was hoping to go live this month (I mean, properly).
Us little people have it rough. If we go with a bigboy host like Pwebtech, BW costs a fortune and that will be reflected in our prices - and then people say "look at blahblah - $15 for 100mb space and 5gb BW!" when we would be making very little money :/
/me sobs :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

*sigh*
cabalstudios 01-04-2002, 03:13 PM I feel sorry for you guys, I have contacts with DV2, unfortunately, things dont look good for serverhost, unpaid bouncing cheques etc..
I hope he gets things sorted, quickly, for the sake of his clients.
phearle 01-04-2002, 03:22 PM I have a server with them too. It's been down for a while.

WildWayz 01-04-2002, 05:36 PM All I can say is I feel extremely stressed out today and I am not in a good mood.
I have snapped at friends and family because of this - even told my pet cockatoo to $£%! off :(

DCJN ?
--James
jayglate 01-04-2002, 07:19 PM Yeah,, you know my ICQ.
Planet Z 01-04-2002, 08:13 PM Isn't it a little weird for a provider to be sharing financial information with anyone other than the customer?
kwimberl 01-04-2002, 10:55 PM We have 1 server up and 2 still down there. :-(
Boy am I glad I don't have all my servers there. LOL
If anyone is still having problems, please call support at 800-342-2706. There are people aware of the situation standing by to help with any needed reboots or FSCK'ing if necessary.
As for me, I'm headed to bed. This has simply been a terrible day for me and everyone involved with Serverhost, and I'm sure it wasn't good for any of our customers either. My sincere apologies - I fought every minute of the fourteen hours to get everyone back online.
I'll speak more about it with customers individually, if you need to hear more. I'll try and be on ICQ tomorrow, but if not, drop me an e-mail to jeffrey.kehe@plusweb.com.
Regards,
WildWayz 01-05-2002, 03:42 PM /me hunts down Jeffrey :o
Anyone managed to talk to him yet?
--James
kwimberl 01-05-2002, 03:46 PM I haven't talked to him but my last server finally came live at 11AM EST today. I cannot afford this kind of downtime. :-( Jeff, if you see this, please contact me either today or Monday. You should know how to get me. :-)
WildWayz 01-05-2002, 03:50 PM he's just popped on ICQ and is talking to me.
Hold off the beatings for now and listen to what is being said.
James
cbaker17 01-05-2002, 04:15 PM I told you if you just would have wished jeff a HAPPY HOsting Day (see previous thread) none of this would have ever happened :)

I'm sure that would have helped. Maybe wishing my upstream provider a happy hosting day would have helped even more, though?!?
I'm not going to go into specifics here, because they visit the board too. If anyone wants more information about what happened, contact me directly. Anyone who was contacted by DV2 or had contact with DV2 yesterday, and they tried to convert you over to them as customers - please e-mail me - we would like to know.
cbaker17 01-05-2002, 08:36 PM hmm are these people cari.net? or who ever that company was that was offering cogent + racks for like 3K?
You can always come to us Jeff :)
OK it wasnt that funny, no really STOP LAUGHING :)
No. Cari.net is in San Diego, California, I believe (from looking at the traceroute).
They are located in Atlanta, Georgia.
