Hello,
A lot of the websites that use ASP are quite data intensive. Do people who are located outside the country where the Windows server is, find that prospective clients would rather the server be closer to home?
Thanks for any replies.

I understand what he is saying and it comes down to network pings, latency, server speed. There are so many variations that can affect this.

Let's say you have a little slow ping on a US server coming from Israel. Now, the US Server is a dual proc with twice as much ram as the one you have the option with in Israel. So even with the latency the US server will probably return faster.

Now exactly the opposite applies also.

So, it depends not only on the network, but on the server that the site resides on.

I'm sure some customer prefer to host close to home. Customers in Australia may a little hesitant to host in North America. Just as customers in North American may not want to host in Europe.

That said we see the opposite as well. We have customers from Europe and Asia who host with us because they want to serve the North American market.

I agree. And you will find some that discover your speed is better than they "know about" at home so host in the US or vice a versa.

There are so many variations to what makes a client choose a host it's hard to base off any realistic method for tracking a positive single or even two reasons.
