How do you telnet into a switch if it doesn't let you enter the password?

u likely will have to call your NOC and have them connect a serial port to it and enter that way and have them change the password.

Actually I could go there right now, but I want to make sure if I could get into the switch via console port.

Depending on the switch, the console password is usually the same as the telnet one so you may have to reset the whole thing.

You should also be able to upload the default configuration file via the serial port without needing a password, which is pretty much what RackMy.com meant by "reset the whole thing", I think.

Someone should know the password for the switch.. if it hasn't been changed then they come with a "default" password.. Look in your manual.

It looks like it's letting you enter the password, except the passwords are wrong. A lot of times it won't show any ****'s or anything to replace what you're typing in, just white space.

What kind of switch is it?
