View Full Version : I thought the worst movie made was...
Chicken 01-02-2002, 11:04 PM I thought the worst (big budget) movie made was Mission Impossible II (which was just pathetic), but I just saw Hollow Man on cable and OMG, if I can save but one person from wasting their time, I will have accomplished something. I didn't think it would be the best movie ever, but I thought it might at least have some redeeming qualities. I missed this one at the theater (good thing, as if I had paid $8 to see this, I would have asked for my money back).
ProSam 01-02-2002, 11:06 PM I thought it was all right. Especially the Superman Joke.:D
Rewdog 01-02-2002, 11:07 PM I didn't like it much, but I've seen worse :(
Movies are so damn expensive, at clemson(college) they have 1 dollar movies, at home its 8 bucks, then you spend 10 more on popcorn and a coke!
Scary movie 2 sucked pretty bad, don't waste your time with it :( .
alpha 01-02-2002, 11:15 PM speaking of scary movie 2...
:puke:
that smilie reminds me of that part in the beginning..
:: Leon Phelps impression ::
umm, yeaaa- that's disgustin'
JustinK 01-02-2002, 11:18 PM One of the worst: Dude, where's my car?
I haven't seen it and even if someone gave me the video free I would not watch it.
MI2 wasn't the worst, but then it wasn't that good either.

ROFL!! Took me a minute because I couldnt remember which one that was but NOW I DO......UGH! It was the worst, I agree Chicken
A really good one though, if you havent seen it yet is
Bone Collector with Denzel Washington :D
One Web 01-02-2002, 11:29 PM Freddie Got Fingered was the worst. The actors, produces and directors of that film should all be locked up in a madhouse. Thankfully my friend worked at the movies and I got in for free.

They must have thought it was too short and decided to add that 30 minute fist fight scene on the beach. If they would have actually done some editing before they released it, then maybe it would have been OK.
AlaskanWolf 01-02-2002, 11:31 PM The money you spend at the theaters these days (roughly $30 for 2 people, with snacks) you can go to Wal-Mart and buy at least 2 DVDs for that price and watch them at home.
Rewdog 01-02-2002, 11:33 PM Or just download the movie off of gnotella ( www.gnotella.com ) for free and watch it, though the japanese translation at the bottom can get annoying.
Not that I do that! Sheesh :D
Chicken 01-02-2002, 11:36 PM Ohhhh and by the way, also saw...
The Patriot :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree:
I'm getting a free month of cable with all the movie channels so expect this thread to be filled with my gripes :D
Justin S 01-02-2002, 11:49 PM Pootie Tang was the worst movie I've even seen (rented it). Luckily, it bombed in the theatres, so not many were exposed to its crappiness.
coolguy23 01-03-2002, 12:40 AM if you guys are gonna watch imposter don't bother, it isn't that good, maybe that was only because i just saw lord of the rings (very very good movie) and not another teen movie( very very funny movie)
:)
Skeptical 01-03-2002, 07:37 AM I didn't think MI2 was THAT bad, but compared to the first MI it was terrible.
akashik 01-03-2002, 08:03 AM I watched Pearl Harbour for the first time last night... Dull as dishwater and rates as my 'dog of the year' as movies go...
Greg Moore
AlaskanWolf 01-03-2002, 09:07 AM I sorta liked MI2, but Freddie Got Fingered, OMG We turned that off within 5 minutes of starting it
Jurassic Park 3 is pretty great on a 63" with DTS surround sound :)
Scary Movie 2 wasnt that funny at all, we got more laughs out of Evolution which was pretty good :)

I thought it was a fairly good movie, I liked it a lot :)
Lawrence 01-03-2002, 09:40 AM What's that fairly new one with Mariah Carey in it? Apparently it cost 20 million to make, and only took in 4 million at the box office or something like that. It seems to be at the top of the 2001 dud list of most critics I've heard.

Not that I mean to side with the director of 'Dude...' :D but still, what's your point? You haven't seen it, so you don't think anything about it right?

IGobyTerry 01-03-2002, 04:34 PM hmmmm I actually though Dude Where's my Car was kinda funny. Although the people in the bubble suits, was just stupid. I don't know if the director thought that it was funny or what. While we're on the topic of stupid things that are on TV, check out http://www.parentstv.org/. grrr those people annoy so much, trying to take the freedom out of american television.
oh yeah, another crappy movie was driven. I thought it sucked so much, and all of the scenarios*(sp?) were so fake. It was a waste of time...
1. The Mexican
2. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
appletreats 01-03-2002, 06:05 PM I hate all unfunny comedies. You know what I'm talking about.
All Disney Movies
Any movie starring, featuring, or including Tim Allen in any role
Any comedy which claims to be "family"
Any comedy involving a rapper
Airplane 2. Okay, it wasn't all that bad, but it contained 75% recycled jokes
:puke:

At least, in reviews. In money loss, it's nowhere near Town & Country. Link! (http://us.imdb.com/Business?0141907) That's not good. It's another "winner" from New Line.
scslawin 01-03-2002, 06:28 PM Hey, at least all of those you've named have made (or attempted to make) some sort of sense. The worst movie ever made? I know what it is, hands down:
Liquid Sky (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/liquidsky/)
Not to be confused with "Vanilla Sky" which I've heard also stinks to high heaven, but it isn't even in the same class with "Liquid Sky" no matter how bad it is.
I went with my brother to see "Liquid Sky" at a midnight showing when it first came out after the newspaper praised it. The theatre was, literally, standing room only. We only stayed until the end because we KNEW it had to get better -- but alas, it didn't.
There was a GIGANTIC line for refunds after the show.
One Web 01-03-2002, 06:43 PM Another bad one was Valentine.
mdrussell 01-03-2002, 07:04 PM I thought The Mummy Returns was pretty disappointing.
The Mummy Returns was okay to me. That is just my opinion...
I don't really HATE any movies. I enjoy watching movies. The only that would be bad would be a movie with A VERY BAD PERSON. :)
bitserve 01-03-2002, 07:29 PM I didn't think that "Hollow Man" was that bad. And the punchline for the super man joke was all wrong.
Anyway, MI2 was better than the first one.
I don't see that many terrible movies because usually I can tell if I want to see a movie by the previews or word of mouth. I don't waste my time on them.
One movie that really disappointed me was "sixth sense". Everyone told me that it was really good. So I kept waiting for the really good to start, but it never did.
I expected the same from "unbroken", and wasn't as disappointed at the incredibly slow pacing of the movie just to lead up to a twist ending.
IMHO.

Was it the bad acting by all of the cast that impressed you?
Or was it the fact that they were all 'trapped' at one point due to the elevator, then at the end they just went up the ceiling panel?
Was it that every character made obvious 'come and kill me' moves?
For me I liked how everyone lined up to die during a 5 minute period.
I also thought it was brilliant how Kevin Bacon didn't die from the first head blow with the tire iron, nor multiple beatings, the flame thrower, and <skip to end> didn't die during the entire lab explosion, and managed to climb up the buring elevator shaft to grab her leg, and how the last two characters survived the intense heat of flames yipping at their bodies in the elevator shaft.
I could go on, but it is one thing for the monster to survive everything and still come back over and over (though I could have sworn *that's* been done a couple of times already), but another for the main characters to be super human as well and be able to survive intense burning heat and falling elevators, etc.
It was just an insult and I would have requested my name be left off the credits if I had anything to do with th emaking of it. Sad thing is, that I was going for a digital production job at a place that did most of the effects.
Effects alone, not a good movie makes.
mkaufman 01-03-2002, 08:37 PM You guys are ALL wrong!!
I rented this movie from BlockBuster called "Startup.com" - LOL! I expected it to be corny..but not as corny as it really was. The picture was so bad..it was so jumpy and the sound was "echoey" - I think they did it on a regular video camera.
These guys start up a company (which I have no idea what it actually did..seriously) they hire like 600 employees then it goes down and down until they go out of business. THat's IT - no story line..and they talked like "oh man! we have to hire more people..we're growing so fast" - yet..I had no idea what the company actually was.
If you want to see a terriable movie..rent it
scslawin 01-03-2002, 08:42 PM mkaufman:
You do realize that "Startup.com" is a reality film about a real company, right? All that really took place, and involves a company called GovWorks that I actually had some dealings with. None of it is acted or actors.
bitserve 01-04-2002, 03:02 AM Chicken,
I admit that "hollow man" was very cliche. The characters did stupid things because it was in the script. But it's what i was expecting, to be lightly entertained for two hours. I know, I'm too easily entertained, and expect too little.
BTW: You can't expect good acting in a movie where the top billed actor is kevin bacon. :)
Anyway, I still say that it wasn't "that bad". Was it good? Would I recommend it? Probably not. But I didn't hate it. I definitely agree with every one of the flaws you pointed out. Keep the reviews coming. :)
It has unfortunately been a very long time since I've seen a really good movie that did more than just entertain me for two hours. What's up with screenwriters? A lot of these movies actually start out based on a good book. Then they add lots of cliche fluff and take out the good parts. Aargh.
What action movie for instance doesn't have a chase scene in it? They're just all trying to get creative with their one mandatory chase scene, required by the action movie guild. They've done everything from cars, to helicopters, to shopping carts.

Yeah, this pretty much tells ya' it's going to be a loser, eh? Have you seen The Patriot? Are you American? I forgot to check your IP before making this post. DOH! I don't usually go for the Mel Gibson movies but this one was good (probably only if you're an American though). A few bloody scenes which could have been toned down a bit (my my my I sound old), but good, very good.
bobcares 01-04-2002, 06:26 AM Perl Harbour was a real drag/
My father got these special passes for this movie and he gave it to me and my wife.
We thought it would be good. But OH... my god... (read it the way Joey says it in Friends)
It was a real killer. Just tried to get the Titanic emotions back but failed ....
Have a great day :)

Skeptical 01-04-2002, 06:52 AM You guys want a REALLY REALLY horrible movie?
Try Hackers, starring Angelina Jolie. Man that thing was BAAAAD. It's worse than MI2, worse than Freddy Got Fingered, worse than eating dog poo.
scslawin 01-04-2002, 09:52 AM And not to mention the serious factual errors in "Hollow Man". Just in case you didn't know, not only would Kevin Bacon have been totally BLIND when made invisible, you'd actually be able to see him because you'd be staring at a big, human-shaped mass of dead skin cells walking around.
Still, the worst movie is "Liquid Sky" and it isn't even close...

HACKERS, LOL!!! I downloaded the first half of it about a year a go, It was the saddest movie I ever saw...
Heh, I didn't even bother downloading the second half :D
code_renegade 01-04-2002, 11:12 AM POTA - the action is just plain... weird...
And the ending is a complete BLEAH. I am wondering how are they going to pull off a sequel (my dad suggested that they might be planning to do so because of the way the movie ended)
That's the last time I'm going into a show with apes inside it...
davidb 01-04-2002, 12:03 PM Double Impact, specificly this one scene. First off, I saw that movie when I was a lot younger, thought it was great. I saw it again six months ago and relized how stupid it was. There is the begging when jean claud(sp) is on a boat selling cars with smokes and some other random things inside. Oh no here comes the hong kong police on boats. Well he gets the bright idea of pusing the cars off the boat then shooting at the gas tanks. wow the cars blow up. Here comes the best part. Now remember they are being chased by the hong kong police on a boat. Now this explosion, in a ocean might I add, somehow stopped the police from chasing them. Dumbest movie ever.
Fredy got fingerd. Stupid but had funny parts.
Hackers. How could this be realistic? Face it, the reality of hacking is no so glamourus(sp).
El Nino 01-04-2002, 01:43 PM The Avengers! I fell asleep during the movie and woke up near the end and there were in colorful bear suits were running around. The movie was just pointless. Another thing I remember was seeing the boom mic every 5 minutes in every wide shot and closeup. One of the worst movies ever!
Another one that comes to mind is Batman & Robin (the one with George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others). I couldnt' think of one good thing in that movie. Luckally I rented this one and didn't see it in the theater.
My third choice is You've Got Mail. I was dragged into this movie by my girlfriend at the time. NEVER AGAIN! Everything was SO predicable! I could have used sock puppets and made a better movie. I remember one of the stupidest lines was when Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks were finding out it was each other they were talking to and Tom goes "Let me guess, You've got Mail!" And Meg Ryan goes "How did you know??" Hmmmmm, AOL has how many millions of members??? Every idiot online is on AOL, it's not some secret phrase or anything.
Chicken 01-04-2002, 02:32 PM Tom Hanks has been in many really amazing movies, but You've Got Mail, isn't one of them, I'd agree. Is there *anyone* who liked that movie? Maybe if I was a 50 year old woman I would have enjoyed it more? My guess is even then I wouldn't have liked it.
rhartono 01-04-2002, 03:30 PM How about A.I.? I thought that was the worst and most boring movie that I've ever seen. It was so long and so sloww and that kid got pretty annoying after a while.
People were talking throughout the movie out of boredom and the guy that sat next to us was snoring. I couldn't believe I wasted my birthday on that.
Chicken 01-04-2002, 07:19 PM I didn't find A.I. particularly thrilling either...

I saw the patriot recently. My brother loaned me the DVD. He must have really liked it, because he bought it. I was expecting something along the lines of braveheart, and that's what I got. Of course it wasn't as good as braveheart, IMHO, but I liked it.
I thought I hadn't seen that many recent movies, but maybe I have. Or your free movie channels for the week or whatever is just showing really old movies. :)
I'm an american. Native actually. My mom is full blooded apache. My dad's family, white conquerers from europe. Or peaceful settlers, who can tell? :) I live in freezing cold michigan. You know the state where you can hold up your hand like a mitten and point to it to show where you live.
I'm going to watch the first half of "courage under fire" tonight on ABC? I've seen it twice already and keep missing the first half. It's a decent movie except for lou diamond phillips. Ew.
Of course I'm partial to army movies, being an ex-army bum. Hooah!
I went to see "hackers" at the movie theater. Not only was it a horrible movie with two attractive people in the ugliest clothing in the world, but it forced me to change my computer handle.
I liked "the avengers". It was wacky.
All jean claude vandamme movies suck. Even the ones with neat surfers dudes.
I totally agree that POTA, and AI were pretty bad. Although I liked AI better than POTA. And alright, I liked "you've got mail" for a chick movie. It was easily one of the better ones that I've been forced to sit though. That one with sarah michelle gellar and the guy from "powder", now that was a horrible chick movie.
pcsteve 01-04-2002, 07:25 PM Ha.
I just remembered the worst movie i ever saw. Hrmm. About 2 years ago?
Does "Snake Eyes" ring a bell?
LoL... everyone in the audience was laughing (including me).
Wow. Can't believe i spent 12$ on that.
But...hey....it's $13 now ....errr!

::shudder:: Lou Diamon Philips... now I'd rather see a Kevin Bacon movie any day over any movie he's ever been in. Also, any movie with any of the cast of Friends = not worth $8. And yes, cable is just old movies for the most part (maybe a couple of new-ish ones). By the way, the power went out and it fried the box, so the cable is directly in the tv now, so no more reviews until I change out the box (have to go there as they offered to come and fix it "some time next week" = why I just borrow cable from the neighbors).
Lawrence 01-04-2002, 09:46 PM I was just thinking how terrible Godzilla was, the one released a few years back. They'd even set themselves up for a sequel at the end, but I'm thankfully yet to hear any plans for one.
I actually liked AI. The ending dragged on (about half and hour too long in fact), but I thought it was decent.

Yes, very true. It dragged on to an ending, but then that wasn't the ending, and it had another half hour left in it.
But I still thought it was fairly good. Not brilliant, but I liked it.

Hey! I loved A.I. Maybe it's biased on the fact that Stanley Kubrick had a major hand in it until he kicked the bucket. The Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove, 2001 A Space Odyssey and now A.I.. are all classics to me.. :)

That movie was such a complete waste. I couldn't believe they tried to make a "chick flick" out of Pearl Harbour. If you edit out all the love scene junk, it might've been remotely worthy of watching. After an hour and a half the movie was just starting. Of course, my sister had nothing but praise for it.
