View Full Version : When applying for a job? What do you actually put on the "Employment History" box?

I mean I ran a couple of hosting companies and sold them and ran some other companies and I just chuckle on when applying for a real job on what you actually put on there.

Lets see I ran like 5 companies, got at least $500,000 overall by myself, and all 5 are still in buisness but not owned by me no more.

So where it says, "Employment History" what do you put on there?
I mean I never had a REAL job elsewhere and now I just wanted to see how it is to "work." I decided to go to Jack in the Box and apply, and when I put on my employment as CEO, and salary was like about $38 an hour, I am applying at a $5.15/hour paying job?
I don't think they will call me anyways... heh

that is something i include in my resume.

and almost 99% of the time each one is contacted

but for what u are applying for i dont think will really matter if you were a ceo :D

I mean what would the employer think?
And for contact info, they all contact me :)

What to write in a job application/resume? It's very simple. Write down the truth.

If you have sold 5 companies and have cleared $500,000, you certainly have the legal documentation to back that up.

Don't lie on a resume or job application. If you cannot prove it, don't write it down.

Now if you have done that, and you can prove it, by all means spell it out.

Any good company will do the background check required to verify your claim. You should easily be able to back this up - and if you sold the company to someone else, they are the contact person, not you.

$5.15/hour? I have not seen anyone make that in a long, long time. Over here in RI the minimum wage is $6.15 and I still think it’s low.

I'm pretty sure in CO it's around $5.15/hour.

I like to put:
"Classified. Any attempt to get such information may end with your name in the paper."

I haven't gotten any calls back for some reason....

lol j/k. Actually I haven't gone out and signed up for a physical job yet. All my stuff has been computer based and through the web.
