hello everyone,

I am interesrting in becoming web hosting reseller. Would you tell me little about your experiences? Like how much staff do you need? is it possible becoming reseller only using your spare time not a full time?

I also do not understand about profitabilitiy of becoming reseller. It seems that we can never compete with our principal. E.g, hostgator sells 2000 MB hosting for $9.95. in the same time they offer reseller package for $24.95. So a client would like to order directly from hostgator rather than from reseller. Maybe I misundderstand on this.

regards
dian

Hi,

I think only about 10% (just a guess) hosting companies can make a good profit.

Therefore the wise tell us that your hosting strategy must be outstanding from the 90% in order to get a good profit. Use hosting strategy a few years later now.

Good luck!

Hi Dian.

You can't compete $ for $ and make money. You don't have the resources. But, if you can come up with a value-add, and market it correctly, it does work.

My business is based on offering a packaged service. I offer site development, client technical consulting, e-business consulting, strategy, etc., and web hosting comes as part of it. I use a reseller package for my clients, and so far (fingers crossed), it's worked out just fine. The first 2 clients pay the hosting bill for the year, and the 3rd through Nth clients are profit.

Best,
