So I'm making a couple bullets, like I've done 100 times before. Something has gotten changed in my settings though, and when I go to save them as a transparent gif, they automatically change to only 2-colors, therefore losing their smoothness. They are a solid color anyway, but of course there are subtle different shades making their borders smooth etc. - but those subtle shades/colors are disappearing as soon as I go to save the image.
In other words....when I create an arrow, circle, (whatever) it looks normal and smooth until I go to save. Then suddenly it drops to 2 colors and is jagged and no longer smooth.
NOTE: Using the 'custom shapes' tool.

Check to make sure that you are working in RGB and not CMYK?
Yet, I think you may have Anti-Aliasing checked off ;)

This could be a stupid answer but what settings do you have the gif at. Maybe its on web settings.
I hate gifs. I wish Microsoft would get with the program and support pngs. If Firefox can the hugest company ever can too.
Dumb Microsoft makes standards then doesnt use them. But thats a different story.

When I loaded up photoshop today, and went to continue my work, the problem was gone. I had already confirmed my color settings (and everything else for that matter), and nothing had changed.
So..... just a weird little thing that happened I guess. :eek2:
please dont break that photoshop again.. you are hurting its feeling :D
You sure you haven't saved it as a 2 color .gif for example? Or monochrome? And your other color settings and stuff like dpi and so on? You can also try to save them as transparent .png the size difference is almost 0 when saving small objects with a few colors.

Use Fireworks or ImageReady when PS starts acting up. Might help to make it jealous.
