gah im a fool yeah yeah ! everyone point and laugh.

i decided to change my hostname in whm to server.oslhost.co.uk then it brought up licencing errors :(

i then did hostname server.oslhost.co.uk on command line and then edited /etc/hosts

following that i did

/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

and it brings up the error:

broken pipe straight after i run it. ok so thats probably to do with the server but i cant generate a licence key :(

i havnt added the domains to the server yet, would this cause the licencing to fail???

Your /etc/resolv.conf probally still has the temporary DNS servers that the Cpanel installer uses if they are not setup correctly then the cp license key checker can not find the site to verify your license and then returns with a failure showing the license to not be setup.

You should confirm they are set back to your DNS server that your upstream provides and not set to 127.0.0.1 (yet) since you most likely do not have your DNS setup and fully configured on the host. If you are also running RH9 / RHE3 / FC1 / FC2 you will want to change your hostname setting in the /etc/sysconfig/network file.

Thanks
