XTStrike 01-02-2002, 11:11 AM Just wondering, ive tried to go there after noticing the great Chicken is all alone and found it wont let me in, it seems like my firewall/proxy is blocking access.
Im not sure if this is the problem other people are having or if they simply dont get the time to go there.
Could anyone help Chicken find out why nobody goes there, and if its the same reason i dont go there.
bobcares 01-02-2002, 11:27 AM I have tried to go there several times. However have never managed to connect.
I use either Linux or FreeBSD as my OS and Konqueror as the browser so I guess because of the Java it maybe having some problems... Specially designed for IE. I have tried to connect with Opera and even netscape and mozilla but with no success.
I guess chicken wants to be alone with his thoughts there... :)
Have a great day :)
regards
amar
SoftWareRevue 01-02-2002, 11:35 AM Myself and others were trying to meet in there yesterday and couldn't log in. :(
I guess it's broke.
Or Chicken's in there all alone with the door locked. :eek2:
AlaskanWolf 01-02-2002, 01:21 PM I liked it when there was phpchat (whatever its called) running, there was tons of people in there :)
these days, its rather annoying that theres no perm. cookies setup where it saves your information for the next time :( everytime i go in there, theres no one online
Chicken 01-02-2002, 01:32 PM Sorry, I mentioned this before but I completely forgot about it when I was changing over a server and it wasn't set up on the new one when I took the old one down. Will be a few days before it gets back up but I'll post an announcement at that time.

Also, once it is moved (good thing I waited heh), I'll be posting something in the related offers and request forum about linking to it and code to install on sites and asking directories and related sites if they would like to have chat directly on their site. We'll do some marketing so it isn't just WHT'ers.
This would affect a membership system though (which I actually did get going), so I have to figure out how to satisfy both needs. It can't be directly linked and have a common membership system, so we'll have to work all that out.
JustinK 01-02-2002, 02:33 PM Where's the option for no-one was ever in it so I just gave up?
Synergy 01-02-2002, 03:50 PM Well it never loads for me :( im using IE 6 and I think I need the JVM to run it (which I can't get right now when I lost DSL :( )
XTStrike 01-03-2002, 06:18 AM id like it to work through a firewall and proxy but i dont think java chat will let you do that, whats the chances of offering something to connect via this method as it looks like quite a few people dont use it for that reason.
imago-allan 01-03-2002, 06:48 AM I got in sometime ago, click a few to check for other rooms. Said hello and after noticing there was not much people in there (actually there was only 1!) , I said goodbye and go back to my usual WHT posting.
That one person in there could only be Chicken -- and you're right you are all alone! hehe
:)
I never visit anymore because there was only 2 occasions when someone was actually there.
Walter 01-03-2002, 08:19 AM No one was there when I visited (three times) - an old problem for a forum or a chat :)

I think that's tunneling and sadly it wasn't included in the version I got. Not exactly one of the better ventures I've undertaken. We'll have to get it up again and then think about it for a bit...
imago-allan 01-03-2002, 12:50 PM Have you guys heard of mIRC? Of course you do.
Why not create an IRC server and then we connect to it via our mIRC client? Or simply create an IRC channel for this chatting purpose. Have it registered then.
I used to chat at mIRC using this current nick.
:)
Chicken 01-03-2002, 02:49 PM Yeah, that was brought up numerous times, and the only problem was that while mIRC is wonderful, it allows you to connect to something without even going to a web site. Of course if no one goes to it, then it doesn't make a darn bit of difference, but the chat was going to be an additional draw to a site which had a few parts. Some things need to be wroked out here (obviously)
DigitalXWeb 01-03-2002, 03:17 PM I visited about a week ago or so and had no problems getting in, I am using Linux and konquerer and I am sitting behind a hardware based NAT.. There was nobody home though.. Not even Chicken..
Look forward to you bringing it back.. I wasnt there much but when I was it was great..
Fiber 01-05-2002, 03:25 AM It's web based. Move it to IRC or AOL.

AOL...what!?
I'd vote bringing it back to phpmychat - that was a lot nicer..
