View Full Version : 8Host.com back up
mantra 01-02-2002, 11:07 AM It seems that 8Host.com is back up.
I guess they finally changed their payment processor.
I think they have awesome plans, but again, I have never heard of them before.
Great site, great plans, but no name? hmm.. tough decision ..
OOPS: sorry, just tried to order a plan, they are still trying to switch payment processors.
LOL, their new payment processor is paypal, I would have gone with revecom, but definetly not paypal...
karstenj 01-02-2002, 11:16 AM Yup, that's not very professional. I really would like to give them a try but that was not a good choice to draw me to them...
Calintz 01-02-2002, 02:59 PM I just try to sign up but my country is not in paypal's listing, what can i do?
mantra 01-02-2002, 03:06 PM PayPal?
Why PayPal?
I mean PayPal can be an alternative to their regular payment processor, but should not be their primary.
Not professional. I don't know, I was looking forward to signing up with them. But I guess not.
I don't know much about 8Host.com. They seem to have high expectations from the look of their website. But I don't know.
ebird 01-02-2002, 04:26 PM Not sure whether they can charge you repeatedly every month. Do people need to remember to send payment by paypal every month?
I think paypal is good for annual plans or for some one time charges, but not good for monthly fees.

Paypal does recurring monthly billing...

TimPD 01-02-2002, 05:05 PM I would have stayed with PaySystems . PayPal I like them but you have to wait so long for a payment to clear by bank account.
avara 01-03-2002, 05:12 AM While I don't see anything wrong with PayPal (we're going to be adding it as an option on our site soon), I agree that it shouldn't be used as the primary payment processor as it's a huge hassle for international customers especially to sign up. Also they don't even support a lot of countries.
imago-allan 01-03-2002, 02:41 PM Agreed.
I have already emailed them about this situation. How can they expect their international customers not covered by paypal to pay? Or if they have ordered sometime ago, to renew later?
So, they did dish out 2checkout.com as I have observed. I was even planning on changing our current processor with 2checkout.com. I think we stick it out for a while. Anyway, I believe 8host.com should consider an international payment processor (and I mean truely international) as a primary payment option.

Ectoman 01-03-2002, 11:50 PM Just signed up.. waiting for my welcome email.. which is taking unusually long.. it's been 15 minutes.. how long is it susposed to take?
Just impaitent I guess..
karstenj 01-04-2002, 04:35 AM Signed up, but I still have to figure out whether I will stay. The welcome Email does not seem to be automatic at this point. It took almost 24 hours for the welcome mail to arrive.
If their support remains the way it is, I am not going to stay
ebird 01-04-2002, 06:29 AM But as you may see, everything is done manually now. I got my welcome email around 24 hours after I submited my order, but the ping time is pretty good for me.
I know how plesk works, so if there's nothing wrong on the server, I don't need the support at all.
Anyway, I won't put my main site there.
Ectoman 01-04-2002, 03:22 PM I had to request my welcome email.. I also required lots of support trying to figure out the Control Panel.. but they helped me out.. very nice.. I recommend.. the FTP is speedy too...
