View Full Version : recommend a reseller
Magic 01-01-2002, 10:54 PM I am in need of a reseller account similar to that offered by MChost and Splash host but with the following features:
Unlimited Domains
SSL
99.9% uptime
Cpanel/WHM
All the companies i know of (ecommercediscovery, splash host and Mchost etc) lack at least one of the above :( Does anyone know of any which provide all of the above?
MCHost-Marc 01-01-2002, 11:22 PM I don't think we lack on any of the above :)
creid 01-02-2002, 12:51 AM I don't think any of the hosts lack them.
Chris
TimPD 01-02-2002, 03:02 AM no advertising ;) kiwi. Look around the forums you will find many people who offer reseller plans.
MCHost-Marc 01-02-2002, 03:25 AM I didn't advertise, just wanted to clear up any doubts. :)
Dollac 01-02-2002, 05:06 AM I am with Kiwi on this one. I do not think that the response can/should be advertising as the first post mentioned the company by name and clearly left the impression that the company's plan(s) lacked the listed features.

They have a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Magic 01-02-2002, 09:13 AM Well i know none of the others (except MChost) provide SSL. I dont wish to badmouth MChost, because i know they have a good rep here, and i do host with you and i think you guys are great; but i guess im looking for alternatives.
Alan - Vox 01-02-2002, 09:40 AM umm... i do provide ssl
Magic 01-02-2002, 10:54 AM You provide annonymous SSL for free? I remember i asked about about 2 months ago and you didnt.
You should mention that in your features list on your site ;)
Alan - Vox 01-02-2002, 11:52 AM you can get a certificate from freessl.com and i will install it for you.
new-webmaser 01-02-2002, 11:53 AM hello
I started as a reseller the webhosting business since a year and now have 7 dedicated servers co-located in VDI and Burst.
not to be rude but i dont know how can I provide unlimited domains for a reseller ?
what will happend if the reseller could sell 1000 account ? no problem about the transfer and space .. what about server performance and speed .. what will happend if each user create some subdomains .. how the DNS will work
and over all ... i think the host need to sell 10 reseller accounts in each Dual-PIII server to cover its cost ...
and if he did .. can the server hold 10000 domain .. even of most of them not active ?
i dont think ... i think there are some reseller around give low prices in 50, 100 or even 200 account .. i'll not say names not to be advertise ..
Alan - Vox 01-02-2002, 12:07 PM I dont limit the amount of domains a reseller can have, but if there are any resellers that are affecting the server performance for other users then i will advise them that they need a dedicated server.
Everyday 01-02-2002, 12:23 PM We offer unlimited domains but the reseller only has so much given space to store them all on. Now if someone is selling 5 mb sites and they have a 6 gig reseller account with us they can put a lot of domains on there. But if they're selling 500mb sites they can't put as much there.
So the unlimited domain deal is that you can have unlimited domains in your given space.

the succeful reseller will sell 5 - 10 accounts per day ... ( i did before more ) if have simple AD with hostsearch or google or here in the special offer section.
so simply he will "affect" the server after less than 2 weeks ( i said you need to put 10 reseller in 1 box to cover cost).
then you will adivce to take a dedicated server .. you will ask him to pay $300/mo after he sign up with less than $50 !! or simply will terminate his sites and his name
thats what happen with me 10 months ago

Mr everyday have better answer .. and I ask him now:
if i get 6 gb reseller account .. and sold accounts 100Mb each .. do i be limited to 60 account/domain ?
or i'll be limited when i actually used this 6 gb ??
this is important to reseller to know !
from my experiance ... most of new webmasters think they need 100Mb while they use 10 to 20 MB only
and in that case i can resell 300 : 600 account in 6 GB ..
and you will never accept that ...
hope all reseller read that before going to buy "unlimited domains" plans
where ppl hate "unlimited bandwidth" i think this is similar case !
Alan - Vox 01-02-2002, 01:10 PM If a reseller can sell 5-10 accounts in a day, then they should be able to afford a dedicated server.
new-webmaser 01-02-2002, 01:23 PM Splash:
i dont ask if he can offer a dedicated server or not
i ask if you can actually offer unlimited accounts ....
can any one in the forum explain this point to splash
Alan - Vox 01-02-2002, 01:29 PM ok, its impossible to really offer unlimited domains, but its also impossible to offer unlimited subdomains, databases, pop accounts, ftp accounts etc.. If someone created 10,000 mysql data bases im sure there would be problems... but there should be no problem for 99% of customers.
Wohoo, my 500th post
Magic 01-02-2002, 01:37 PM freessl.com doesnt really appeal to me :crap:
Everyday 01-02-2002, 01:43 PM I think where splash is coming from is that a reseller account has only so much available storage space. So if a reseller is paying $50 a month for a reseller account and has $300 or $400 coming in from that reseller account they are most likely at the maximum storage space available and therefore should move to a dedicated machine. This way the reseller can increase their income since they have more space.
We use Virtual Private Servers for our resellers so if someone is at the starter plan we can move them up to the next VPS until they reach the maximum reseller plan. From there we would recommend a dedicated machine to them.
We do not recommend our resellers to oversell their storage. If you have 4 gig with us and you sell 8 500 mb sites, in our opinion you have maxed out your space. You can not go over the alloted storage without an additional charge. Usually people step up to the next plan rather than pay for each GIG separately.

We provide free and both shared or dedicated SSL. Again, just clearing up confusions. :D
avara 01-03-2002, 06:55 AM Just a point which some people don't seem to understand: It's the amount of visitors a server gets/combination of static and dynamic pages that counts, not really the number of sites hosted.
For example if I put 1000 sites on one server, but on average each site only received a few visitors a day, there wouldn't be any problem at all. However if I put 5 heavy sites on one server, there might be a problem.
Hosts like MCHost and SplashHost charge by disk space and bandwidth usage, meaning that their pricing is based on ACTUAL USAGE. And once you grow over their biggest shared plans, of course you're going to need to get a dedicated server (I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about regarding that last point).
