View Full Version : Windows for < $70/mo?
Mike Bell 08-07-2004, 08:18 AM I'm on my current hosts reseller plan. They are very proud of their bandwidth, which.. it IS good... but good grief. Instead of setting up all new reseller accounts I'd like to go dedicated. However, I'm paying $60/mo now.. and that's my budget.
Are there any Windows dedicated plans out there that are decdently dependable for that much? I was going to go Tomsyer but then I saw the extra $25/mo on Windows that bumps it up past my $60. Thanks!
Mike
jheslop1 08-07-2004, 08:39 AM All I can say is good luck, your not going to get a windows machine for under $60 or $60 for that matter try raising your budget $30-60 and you will have a decent windows machine to help you grow.
Mike Bell 08-07-2004, 08:41 AM Yeah. I figured... just wanted to see if by some miracle someone had a good host. LOL I might have to dig and see if I can come up with the extra for tomsyer.net.
jheslop1 08-07-2004, 08:43 AM If you can bump up your budget from $70 to $80 you can get a managed.com server with Windows 2003 (web) $60 for server + $19.95 for the license.
Mike Bell 08-07-2004, 08:46 AM hrmm.. so far all I've heard is bad about managed.com. It was my original choice but due to reviews... that changed.
jheslop1 08-07-2004, 08:50 AM Well you better double your budget otherwise you won't get good. What are you planning on doing with this box, hosting clients?
Mike Bell 08-07-2004, 08:54 AM 1 site.. serves many. lol http://www.myonlineimages.com
jheslop1 08-07-2004, 09:12 AM I wish you the very best then.
6PS-Jake 08-07-2004, 01:15 PM Nice site Mike. I wish I could help you with finding a server in your budget. I am guessing you will have to increase your budget.
Wish I could help ya.
Steven 08-07-2004, 01:18 PM I think one of hte cheapest you are going to find that are very stable is 15minuteservers.com
hostbox 08-07-2004, 01:24 PM Burst resellers can do that....
SEATi 08-07-2004, 02:02 PM A burstnet reseller can't beat that price, unless it's a closeout or a special promotion.
The cheapest "regular" server @ nocster is priced at $59.95
Server price after reseller discount: 44.96
Windows license: 19.95
Total cost TO THE RESELLER: 64.91
And the reseller wants to make some profit out of this deal, and maybe has some processing fees (Paypal fees, credit card processing fees)
And by the way, even if a reseller sells that server at 65.00 I wouldn't dare to comment on the support they can provide making a 0.09 profit from a server.

There are some kids out there that do want to get clients and sell them at No profit price FYI :D
Nessun 08-07-2004, 02:07 PM http://layeredtech.com/ has one for $88 a month and you will be put on their theplanet network or their SAVVIS network either way you can't go wrong.
boonchuan 08-08-2004, 01:04 AM Try asking Wholesaleinternet, I got one from them at $49. Maybe Aaron have some extra Win machines out there?

As I said, if someone sells that server for 65 I would stay away, as there would be impossible for the reseller to offer some kind of tech support.... as you said... only a kid would do it.
