I've set up watching of my servers at siteuptime.com.

It seems that smtp server is quite often down. Is that possible that siteuptime is wrong? or I have such poor host (well that's actually possible..)?

But maybe smtp service might have some kind of timeout or sthg and siteuptime might be wrong sometimes??

i have used siteuptime on my server.... here were the results...

first tested my SMTP, FTP and HTTP with the london test server they have (as my server is in the UK).

apparently my ftp was going offline 5 times a day, even though i could connect to it at apparent downtime.

Switched monitoring from their london server to one of their us servers, and i havent had any downtime reports yet.

Best part about it, is that my SMTP, HTTP and FTP are all on the same server, and it only reported ftp going down, and only from their london test server....

so go figure....
