Do a search and you will understand :) kermitsworld 01-03-2002, 11:39 AM Not quite true.... not all the staff were bad but now it is a one man band you can't blame the staff anymore. Hmm wonder who I am??      311 01-03-2002, 12:20 PM Originally posted by kermitsworld Hmm wonder who I am??      hmm... I was the last man out but at least he is still there to turn the lights out. PM me if you want any further info etc       311 01-04-2002, 08:35 AM That's Good to hear, wise decision :) kermitsworld 01-05-2002, 08:22 AM old Acid knows who I am !! 311 01-05-2002, 09:46 AM Adam, Greg?? Ales 01-05-2002, 10:47 AM Ian? :D kermitsworld 01-05-2002, 04:53 PM Hello Ales!! If you want the truth about things visit herefordrd.co.uk is all I can say in a public forum as certain people like to send solicitors letters all over ASPCode.net 01-05-2002, 05:58 PM This is a weird thread... Back to Donhost and dedicated servers, what I really can't understand is how anyone at all could be interested in DonHosts dedicated server. I mean with a regular 'unlimited all' reseller account you get 20Gig for £49.99. With a dedicated ( looking at Windows option ) you get 5 GB for £199.99. I mean, how did their market guys come up with something like that??? To whom do they expect to sell it to? People outgrowing the 'unlimited' reseller plan??? acidHL 01-05-2002, 06:13 PM True kermitsworld has proved who he is, he knows all about my acocunt. I have to say that he was one of the few nice staff. I think you made a good decision to leave m8 :) acidHL 01-05-2002, 06:14 PM Originally posted by ASPCode.net I mean with a regular 'unlimited all' reseller account you get 20Gig for £49.99. 20GB? I ssem to remember it being 50GB when I signed up... maybe they changed it... chilediez 01-11-2002, 02:32 PM      Well what about donhost is it any good? Any horror story? I would like to know why are they so bad. THX. acidHL 01-11-2002, 07:31 PM Do a search of the forums (the search button at the top) and you will see everyones comments. kermitsworld 01-11-2002, 07:41 PM Daniel was on about changing it from 50GB to 20GB while I was there so if he has done it good on him he is admitting defeat if not do not go above 20GB as your account will be closed       311 01-11-2002, 07:45 PM wow, shows you how dishonest he is... kermitsworld 01-11-2002, 08:14 PM If you need proof just ask jpcooling@aol.com he will vouch for the Donhost state of operations also the poor girl in Brazil who lost everything because of it and a few others I could mention       jonny b 01-12-2002, 10:14 AM Originally posted by kermitsworld Hello Ales!! ToastyX 01-14-2002, 10:48 PM Ian? Are you the same Ian that cancelled one of my accounts for "streaming media" even though it was just legal MP3s? If so, I hope you were forced to do that against your will. Ales 01-15-2002, 08:02 AM I beleive quite a few accounts were deleted by Donhost without any valid reason, especialy if they were big. I'm just sorry for all the resellers that are still there... Many don't know what is coming... The way I see it, the person to blame for this kind of "business" practice is the owner, not Ian or any other former employee. KDAWebServices 01-15-2002, 06:30 PM I see DH are advertising for staff at the moment. So does anyone know exactly what's going on with it all. 311 01-15-2002, 06:48 PM "kermitsworld" said that Daniel Conlon was the only one left to do with donhost, so yeah they suck now! xdam 01-18-2002, 09:35 AM Ian, I think it's really bad of you coming on here trashing DonHost, the only problems i've had with DonHost are you unwilling to make an effort in the support department and cancelling accounts of mine for very petty reasons. By the way, to get back to the point of this thread, the DonHost dedicated servers seem reliable, I have one myself and I've had no problems. Ales 01-18-2002, 12:17 PM xadam: IMHO, you should think of account deletion as an official Daniel's business practice. He does it to everybody... and for made up or no reason at all. You don't seriously think that was Ian's idea, do you? And if you don't think account deletion is a good reason for trashing a host, than I don't know what is... I would recommend all the resellers to closely watch all their big accounts, especially if they are moving more than 5 GB monthly. Than just wait for Daniel to find an excuse to delete them... You won't have to wait for long and you won't be warned untill after the fact. Good luck with keeping the customers after that... Ales jonny b 01-19-2002, 11:19 AM ok so lets talk about attitude. In my dealings with Donhost over the last few months I have found their support staff extremely helpful and polite. On the rare occasion I have had to speak to Daniel he has proved to me why he owns a company of this standing, he is technically gifted and like all techies, without fail, is accurate and to the point. Gosh customers these days are not what they used to be I don't know how long you have been a reseller but that AUP is the same one I copied to use on my site 5 months ago. So to my knowledge the AUP hasn't changed. It always helps anyway to keep up to date with important issues such as AUP and terms especially with internet companies as you will be aware it is still such a dynamic environment change is bound to happen. When was the last time you logged into your account? I noticed the huge pop up a few weeks ago reitterating their AUP when I log into the FTP....... You do not need to be telepathic to read that.... Regards Kermit remember that post Ian?? lol......do you always talk about yourself in the 3rd person? ;) SuperDon 01-19-2002, 01:26 PM I finished all dealings with Donhost a few months ago but still they continue to cause me problems. Heres my views on the company. 1) Support although usually quick was very abrupt (as in rude). 2) They do delete accounts for little reason and without notice or chance to reslove the issues they have or move the account. 3) They are continuing to charge my debit card for services not used - a matter i am persuing with the bank as we speak. 4) They have pretty quick servers and downtime while I was with them was very minimal. 5) There dedicated deal are very expensive considering they are located in Donhosts head office in Doncaster. Also there cant be much support if only Daniel works for them! All in all I think Donhost really could be a good company if the sat down and thought about things and they way they handle certain situations. Like I say, just my thoughts. cdudeuk18 01-19-2002, 04:15 PM Answer to question how they offer 50000mb to resellers ( unix ) .. and 20gb to dedicated servers users ... well .... their reseller unix servers are located in telehouse .. where they is alot of bandwidth ... the servers they use to provide dedicated servers .. are located in donhost .. with not as much bandwidth .... Donhost is advertising for ppl to work for them , yes. BUT i have a question ... do u have to work in the office ??? Are there any positions where you can work away from the office ? cdudeuk18 01-19-2002, 04:18 PM Originally posted by kermitsworld Hello Ales!! Sure you don't work for them already? You seem to be promoting them in every thread. And surely it would be better to ask donhosts themselves regarding the positions available? cdudeuk18 01-19-2002, 04:28 PM Originally posted by voxtreme-matt Sure you don't work for them already? I would be interested in working for donhost , I'm always looking for new challenges ... Donhost would be challenge .. which i know i would be able to complete ... and turn around ... And i will enquire at some stage about the positions at donhost. mdrussell 01-19-2002, 04:56 PM Originally posted by cdudeuk18 I would be interested in working for donhost , I'm always looking for new challenges ... Your ego seemingly gets bigger with each reply, eh? cdudeuk18 01-19-2002, 04:58 PM Originally posted by voxtreme-matt Your ego seemingly gets bigger with each reply, eh? What do u mean ??? i like a challange .... Its boring to have a job where you get set work .. and just do the work ..... why not have a input in the way the work is done ... and how to company is viewed. Mellowman 01-20-2002, 06:51 AM Donhost can always be relied upon to provoke strong feelings for and (mostly against)... As a current Donhost punter here's my take: 1. Tech support is very quick, always relevant and certainly abruptly worded. 2. Their AUP is stricter than most and very carefully monitored. I was asked to remove streaming files, which although not in breach of copyright, they just don't allow streaming files. 3. There are many other things they don't allow which are just the thing many of us want such as certain interactive and cpu intensive cgi scripts and opt-in mailing lists. 4. Their reliability has been absolutely superb - but blotted by blocking ftp/control panel access over periods over Xmas and New Year. 5. Fact is, they run a tight ship the way they want to and you gotta take it or leave it. If you fit their ideal punter profile and don't care for pleasantries you'll love 'em! Otherwise, you'll be looking over your shoulder all the time and wondering whether you'd be better elsewhere. Just my take! ToastyX 01-20-2002, 07:59 AM Their dedicated servers are insanely expensive considering the amount of bandwidth they give you. Support is quick because they don't bother to read your e-mails. When I asked to cancel the service, Daniel asked me for my username and password TWICE even though I had stated it in the e-mail. At least I did get a refund but I was screwed a bit by the exchange rate. Such is life. cdudeuk18 01-20-2002, 08:21 AM Hmmm ........ Well ... i'll not pass judgement ... but I' was j/k about thinking about taking a job @ donhost ... i already have a job ... with a company ... so 2 jobs in the same field is not worth it ... plus the fact donhost sucks .. and would cause my stress levels abit higher then should be  sjbates 02-01-2002, 07:45 PM Hi Guys. Just thought i would let you know of something Donhost did to us recently. Daniel had deleted our who reseller account including all the virtual servers on it, our hosting companies site, customer info and a lot. Now he is also ignoring all emails from us and after a telephone call he said he wants nothing to do with us and if refusing to change an ISPTAG of a domain we have with him. So even though now we are no longer customers, he's still causing problems with us. Luckly we had a server ready to host everything of ours. Thanks, Steven. |
