Just thought I'd point out that you should NEVER use domainsatcost.ca because they are unethical crooks. The prices looked appealing... but now I've paid the price. Literally. I would advise all of you to find a different registrar... most of their prices are comparable anyways.

It would help if you elaborated on what they did to you. Saying that they are "unethical crooks" without any specifics makes you look like a vindictive hothead. I've never heard of them...

Was in a hurry. :p

Basically, they charged my credit card twice and refuse to credit it back... they'll only apply a credit to my account (which I don't want)

When I told them I would simply have Visa revoke the charge, they said that if I did that they would place the account on hold (rendering my domain inactive) and make me pay the money back + a chargeback fee in order to reactivate my account.

I let them know that if that is how they treat their customers when THEY make a mistake, then I want nothing to do with them.

I promised I'd let others know of the oh-so-ethical way they run their business.

Hmmm... It does sound like they should have credited your credit card instead of forcing you to take an in house "store" credit. If it's any consolation, they will probably be out of business if they keep up this kind of double charging scam. I would have complained to my bank, too, just like you did.

By the way... welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks. :)

I've been meaning to visit here for a while (have known of this site from talk on FlashKit) but never got around to it.

Now I'm glad I did, as it's a great site... lots of great info!

crediting his credit card might cost them the processing fee thats why they want to keep the money so he can use it for buying other services/domains

IMO its bad to use such practice since its their mistake!

Hmm ... I no longer use Domainsatcost.ca any more. Yes, one of the reasons is that their user interface is so messed up that they charged my credit card twice in at least one instance. HOWEVER, I remember being refunded fairly promptly. I don't know if they have changed their policy or could you elaborate on the circumstance that they double charged you.

Well, *according to them*

"I processed it at two different times (that could mean a matter of miliseconds but who knows) after I had been told the transaction was approved."

Well, I have no clue how it happened. Their user interface is terrible, and it's impossible to tell what's going on.

Either way, it's a load of crap and now I've gotta stay with these morons for another year, or sacrifice the cost of another year and change registrars.

When you transfer to another registrar, you bring along your current registration and simply extend it for another 12 months. You could actually use up your credit right away (by registering another domain or adding a second year to your existing domain) and move all your domains out.
