Hi guys,

I would like to ask a few things about a dedicated server.
I have an Athlon XP 2400+, 80GB IDE + 40GB disk (partitions on both disks) with 1GB of RAM.

I would like to know how many sites do you think I can host without performance problems.

Just general thoughts. Let's say half dynamic, half static sites or an average, anyway.

The server has installed CPanel 9.*
If I complie a new apache (2.*) and tomcat as well, would that be a problem?

I know that I am asking many different things, just don't have money to buy more servers and split the cost.....

I have 1TB of traffic.

Any suggestions are always welcome.

Maybe 2, maybe 2000, or something between that :D

Compiling Apache 2 with CPanel will most likely break a lot of things at this time. CPanel does have a buildapache 2 script for CPanel ( http://layer1.cpanel.net/buildapache2-ALPHA_TESTERS_ONLY.tar.gz ), but it's been in Alpha testing since August of last year. Supposedly, Apache 2 doesn't support all of the modules that CPanel needs. Tomcat will work with CPanel.
