I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with hostway.com? Are they a good company? Who is better?

hi i have never used them but have had 3 clients who have and can only say this

but support is great i think its 24-7 phone support

but one client got a nice 145 dollar bill one month for going over her bandwith by only a few gigs

they charged like 5 bucks per 100 mb's

and also they dont install php cgi or any of those u have to ask anytime u want a sql db's made
or if u need php cgi mysql might have to call each time to get something like that on

I never used, but I have a customer/friend who use the Windows Plan and he's more than happy, the uptime is good, and the average support request -6 hours

Well, as it turns out I am currently hosted by hostway.com. I wanted to get a feel for what other people thought of them. Yeah, they do cost a lot and what the hell are files? You get 10000 files to use for your domain but after that it costs you $10 for 5000 more files. I've never heard of such a stupid money grabbing ploy as this!

Besides the files thing they seem great although I would like a host that stays current with the release of software. They could... upgrade their apache, Miva Merchant software, Miva Empressa, and their stat software.

Support is pretty good but unfortunately what you get out of them is usually 10 words or less!

Heard all good things about them. They seem to have a good control over the support issues

My mother used Hostway.com for her ecom site but there shopping carts don't always function and they are hard to set up. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. As for as just having a basic website with some cgi-bin installed. They are great but costly. Uptime and Support are good for the money.
